It's a parabolic mirror made up of multiple, individual mirrors. The photo was taken outside the Louisville Science Center (I think that's what it's called). You can see the reflections of a car and some orange cones on the sidewalk. It was the only photo I took of it. It came out more interesting than I expected. I wish I had taken more from different angles.

Wow! All these are really good!

Montag, I love the second photo.

Here's a couple of mine:

My buddy Boris, looking regal and proud at sunset.

Whenever I can I take motorcycle trips to remote destinations. This one is from the Canadian west coast. Once a proud ship, it now rusts peacefully, slowly returning to the sea.

The pic of the boat would have looked awesome in sunset lighting. Also, the motorcycle is really distracting.

Thanks.

Your really nailed the exposure for Boris in that tricky backlight. I agree that the ship photo would be better without the motorcycle. But I really like your description of the ship...slowly returning to the sea...very nice.

Nice work. I especially like the second. The 4th shot is a little underexposed. When shooting in snow, the light meter gets fooled by all that light bouncing around, so you generally want to overexpose (according to your camera's meter) by about a stop, give or take, depending on how bright it is outside. It's great that you're getting out and practicing so much already!

cool! thanks for the advice. I was gettin frustrated because the pictures from that ranch were all dark and I couldn't really sit and play around with the settings since I was being driven around. I won't be back to that area till April so hopefully I'll get some good shots in because that is a really beautiful ranch. And I just noticed that most of my snow pics in general are dark so your advice will come in handy.

i took this a few weeks ago. first attempt at stitching, could've been better, but good enough for not using a tripod or anything when taking the shots.

DN might recognize where this is at
I love those HDR pics, i need to learn how to do that too, haha

Here are a few...

Took this for my parents 26th anniversary. The words that are in focus are "El amor", or "The love". I got the idea from Flickr.

Took this on my way to school.

I didn't want to take the same Iwo Jima memorial picture that everyone and their mother take. I tried to get another perspective.

Comments & criticism welcomed, I'm here to learn.

PS, I'm told that my pictures look compressed and low in detail with other monitors. My camera is set to RGB, but for some reason after I would process my pictures in PhotoShop, they would appear a bit desaturated on my monitor in Flickr, so I read somewhere that to fix it convert to generic RGB so that's what I do know. It looks ok on my monitor, but apparently different on others.

oasmu and lord helmet, those are great shots. If you rotate them and level them out, they'll look 100x more impressive. It seems insignificant, but I guarantee it'll improve the viewer's perception

You're using the wrong profile for your pictures. You need to go to Edit -> Convert To Profile, then select "sRGB IEC61996-2.1" and make sure the Relative Colorimetric is selected in the drop down list before you click ok. Now when you save, your pics will look the same in all web applications.

Thanks a lot Dan! So every picture in my Flickr, except for the one I am going to post, has bad quality? Aw man, know I have to upload all of them again.

I know some of these are random. This was an off key baseball game from the city I live in (fitchburg). I was out running that morning and decided to hike around only to find this small game going on. The colors aren't very vibrant because it's still early in the season for greener grass. Though I also didn't run any of these through photoshop so I'm sure I could have played around with them a bit more.

They were all taken with my 20D with the 70-200 F/2.8 L IS.

I just wanted to play around and get some pictures and these are a few of them (click to enlarge):
