Photoshop Elements 5.0

Just an FYI in case anyone was in the software market. It's supposed to be available in October.

London. — Sept. 12, 2006 — Adobe Systems Incorporated (Nasdaq:ADBE) today announced Adobe® Photoshop® Elements 5.0 software, a major upgrade to the No. 1 selling consumer photo editing software*. Available for Windows®, Photoshop Elements offers new and more flexible ways for consumers to organize files, edit images with ease and share photos in engaging and innovative ways. Adobe Photoshop Elements allows for quick, one-click fixes to photos with the option of exploring more sophisticated editing techniques.
I've messed around with previous versions of PSE on my parents computer and think it's actually a pretty decent piece of software. You get about 70% of Photoshop for about 1/5th the price. The new version even includes curves.

Saw this earlier. Their taking preorders on Adobe's web site. SRP is 89.99. I'm interested, but will be waiting to see what the street price is.

I'm considering the bundle with Premiere Elements.

The new features look great. I have highly recommended PSE for my friends and family in the past and will continue to do so now that version 5 is out.

I even use it for playing back slideshows on my own machine...

For those that aren't aware, the CPU requirements for the Elements programs have a reputation for being picky. This is mostly for the video editing with Premiere Elements but I seem to recall reading of a few people that got cought out with PS Elements as well.

READ THE SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS BEFORE PURCAHSING!

It's not only decent, it's excellent. It's built on the exact same engine as the full blown PS, and it can be had for $60. Pair it with Richard Lynch's book and it's a knockout program. I love using PSE 4
