Nikon S50 vs. Canon SD800

It's come down to these two cameras. Plenty of positive remarks about the SD, not many ppl have the Nikon, but the specs are nearly identical, but the camera is a bit cheaper... and cooler looking imo. Thoughts?

Between those two, I'd go with the 800IS, I'm a Canon person. But I did buy the 800IS last October and returned it for the A710IS, for a few reasons;

A710IS has Full Manual control, found myself needing a P&S last summer with this.

up to 210 mm lens

didn't want another camera with proprietary battery, A710IS uses regular "AA's" if needed.

didn't like the picture at full wide 28mm, blurry at corners on 800IS

If I had done some more reading, I would have purchased A710IS in the first place.

^ nice review of the A710IS, but looks a bit bulky? Keep in mind I'm looking for an ultracompact. For what it has, the SD800 seems to be my best option.

Enjoy the 800.

Just wanted to make sure that you understood that I return the 800 because I wanted the features of the 710. Not that the 800 had problems or was a bad camera.

^ Yep. I took your advice with a grain of salt. This will be the travel/portable type of camera. It needed to be SMALL. Eventually, with much more research, I want to get a nice camera... and size won't rally matter. heh
