Nikon D3x

haha, that was pretty good!

It's not too often I find humor in Hitler, but that was good.
"There, there. I hear he only shoots in JPG."

Anyone know where that scene is actually from? I'd like to see what the real subtitles were.
It looks like the increased resolution wipes out the ISO benefits that the D3/D700 have enjoyed for the past 16 months. It's still a great performer, but it's now merely the equal of the 1Ds3 instead of blowing it out of the water like the D3 did to the 1D3.
I guess the old saying holds true... bigger pixels are better pixels.
Anyway, the D3x is an amazing camera; it is on par with the Canon 1DsIII, and in some aspects it is even slightly better!
Mr. Reichmann has posted his initial review today: http://www.luminous-landscape.com/re...ig-three.shtml
The extent to which the Nikon D3x and Canon 5D MKII are equivalent in noise (or its lack) is almost uncanny. There simply isn't anything to choose between them in this regard. Yes, the Canon goes to ISO 25,600, but that's just for bragging rights and is unlikely to be used in the real world for anything other than experimentation or forensics.
The Nikon D3x is in a class by itself – the most full featured, the most robust, and need I add, the most expensive of the three by a factor of nearly 3X. The Canon 5D MKII is probably the all-around champ, offering a combination of image quality, features and especially price that is very hard to top. On the other hand, the Sony is comparably priced, has the best viewfinder, in-body stabilization, and access to some fantastic Zeiss lenses. Decisions, decisions.

I never expect D3x to be as good as what diglloyd.com reviewed recently.
You guys should read it.
The dynamic range, ISO 50, micro details are (IMO, a lot) better than D3/D700.
Now, let's hope there will be a D700x within 6 months.
