Smile New Website - Feedback Appreciated

I've been wanting a more organized site than what Flickr has to offer, but I just haven't had the time to put one together. I have a few days off this week, so I decided to take the plunge and finally put something online.

www.mavenphoto.ca
The blog also has an RSS feed if you use a reader: feeds.feedburner.com/MavenPhoto

Consider what you see so far as just a framework. I'm going to be adding quite a bit more to the galleries and the blog is pretty skimpy because it's only 3 days old.

I'm also going to add a shopping cart to sell prints, but I'll have to do a little more research before I jump on any one option in particular. I'm using WordPress for the framework, so there are quite a few shopping cart options out there.

Have a look around and let me know what you like and don't like.

Thanks!

Dan

One thing I noticed that made me for a bit, is when you enlarge one of the pictures in a gallery, clicking outside the picture boundaries does not close it back down.

That's what I've always been used to in other websites. Finally figured out clicking the picture itself does the trick. Don't know if that is something you could implement.

I like it, nice and clean. Though I guess it's the host, there seemed to be a delay once an image was clicked.

Thanks. I tried to keep all the images to less than 100K, but I think you're right, the host might be slow sometimes. I'm using GoDaddy.

Thank you! It was hard to write about myself, but it got easier after some scotch. It also explains the typos...

You might want to consider an equipment list or what you used on a particular photo. I've seen this on other sites and kinda like it.

Looks good btw...I thought you were a giant though.

I could see doing that in the blog, especially when I have a "behind the scenes" post or something, but I don't think I'll do that in the galleries. There's a place for that on sites that review gear or educational sites, but I don't often see that on sites where it's just about the photos. Ultimately, I guess it's just a personal preference thing.

That's a telephone pole I'm sitting next to...
