Just got published in this issue of National Geographic Traveler Magazine!!
I've known for a while, but couldn't fully believe it until it hit the stands yesterday. HLL & I went looking all around last night, but everyone around us still has last month's issue. My dad subscribes, though, and got his copy today - he just called to let me know it's really there!
Tag your photos thoroughly on Flickr..that's how they found my shot!
Did I mention ?

Thanks!!
Both. They asked for a high res file and inquired how I'd like to be credited. I responded that I wouldn't send a high res file without a contract (honestly thought it was a scam at first, but really. why would joe schmo want that image..?) and asked what their standard usage rate was - frankly didn't really expect to hear back. They sent the contract via email and are paying their standard, which is $200. I have no interest in undercutting the industry by giving away photos, no matter who is asking.
Should clarify - I donate sessions and images to charities and fund-raisers, but I see that as being very different.

That is great news to share and Nat. Geo. no less! To be published in a magazine known for their photography is quite an accomplishment. My sincerest congratulations

It's become more than apparent over the past year....You should've kept working as a vet.
Many congrats! This is the second pic to be published, right? First one for an equine association or something?
Congrats!

Thanks again, I'm pretty damn stoked!
Yes, SS, the first was for the American Horse Council's membership brochure. I've had a couple of freebies online (DCist.com & schmap.com), but this is my first paid mass circulation publication.
The brochure paid me with a full page 4 color ad, so I was happy with that, but cash is mo' bettah.

I don't know which tag, but it doesn't have many. I'm guessing either "Winchester" or "Museum of the Shenandoah Valley" because they're the most specific. She referred to it as the Glen Burnie house, which is the estate the museum is built around, but not a tag I included, so I would guess they were searching specifically for the museum. She indicated it was for a road trip piece that included Winchester and Middleburg.
I can tell you more when I find a copy of the magazine. I looked at another Borders today on my way home from work, and they still don't have the current issue out.
