Westley:
"To the pain," means the first thing you lose will be your feet below the ankles, then your hands at the wrists, next your nose.
Prince Humperdinck:
And, then my tongue I suppose. I killed you too quickly the last time; a mistake I don't mean to duplicate tonight.
Westley:
I wasn't finished. The next thing you lose will be your left eye, followed by the right . . .
Prince Humperdinck:
And, then my ears, I understand. Let's get on with it.
Westley:
Wrong! Your ears you keep, and I'll tell you why. So that every shriek of every child at seeing your hideousness will be yours to cherish, every babe that weeps at your approach, every woman who cries out: "Dear God, what is that thing?" will echo in your perfect ears. That is what "to the pain" means. It means I leave you in anguish, wallowing in freakish misery, forever.

It will be interesting to see...mainly because Canon also chose to go high MPX...which we know sort of kills ISO performance.
Either way, this is a big offering from Canon. And I think a good one.
I still REALLY hate the fucking video though. There have been morons online since the release of the D90 talking of trying to shoot their "movies" with this DSLRs
idiots.

Big Block go VROOOM!
Micheal Reichman from the Luminous Landscape is on an African safari. I'll be curious to see if he was given a pre-pro body to take with him on his trip.
So has anybody seen a list of the custom fucntions available? No particular reason why I'm asking.

Is this link real?

I'm kind of disappointed the new gap less sensor technology didn't make into FF yet.

here is an email I got from an email discussion amongst friends today. This man is a very known and pro still shooter.
He is very unhappy with the 5D II announcement, specially the framerate:

I completely agree with you. More MP's is not the answer except for those who believe in the marketing behind Bigger MP's improving your skill as a photographer. I was underwhelmed also as I read through the press release.
The 1DSM3 is limited in high frame rate and ISO and now the 5D supersedes it in some manners.
Does not make sense.
Combining a HD motion camera with a ultra HD still camera only leads to one thing.
Compromising on making a solid high performance still camera.
I am seriously now considering switching from Canon to Nikon as I need two bodies such as the D3 or D700, full frame with high frame rate ability.
I just have to figure out how to unload all my Canon glass.

If you wanted framerate, you went with the 1D.
Okay, sure, the 1D is 1.3 crop factor, and 1Ds is full frame.
I never really thought you needed full frame and fast frame rates.
But why do you need Full frame and fast framerate?
If you need > 4 fps, you are shooting sports or something, I think,
and that doesn't scream 'ultra wide angle'.

the 1DS line, however, was never about framerate.

But I will say...while I was out shooting my LAX photos...the planes come so low I needed my 24mm....and having the fast framerate was also needed. So, there are uses.

oh and I am no longer disappointed by the fps. Although it would have been nice to get around 5-6 or so, I understand that this is not a speed camera, and I am glad that they did bump it up a bit. Now, I am very curious to see it's high ISO performance.

if it's high ISO is similar to the D700's performance (doesn't have to be equal), yes. If not, I'll either wait longer or consider the D700.

I take you at word that this guy knows what he's talking about. But there's no way Canon was going to make the 5DMkII a 1D with a FF sensor. It has always been a Landscape and Portrait body.
