do any of you guys have any exp with these. im looking to get one. not an expensive one since ill be using it for racing duties. a buddy of mine has a tony hawk one he paid 40 bucks for. and before you guys go and start flaming it actually shoots pretty well for being that cheap. its 15 fps and ill only ever be on smooth black top. oh yeah i race karts. dont want an expensive one because if it does fall off and a kart hits it, its toast. we have about 3/4" ground clearance. i found a oregon scientific 1000 and a 2000. all three are completely wireless, use sd cards for mem and batteries. uploading is as easy as pluggin in the sd card. do any of you guys recommend something else. i just want to be able to take video or my races to work on my technique. my gf will be in the stands with a camcorder. i ask for yall advice because i dont really understand all the specifics of the cameras. also here is a link to what the tony hawk cam footage looks like

there really isnt nothing i can do about that. these carts have "rigid" frames and the suspension or lack there of i done by the flex in the chassis, axle flex, and tire pressure. thats pretty much how you see when your in one and on the gas. you pull 3g once the track/tires heat up in the turn at 2:11

yeah they are. they beat the shit out of your body. i would just to have a cam to show my friends what its like to run with 16 other karts. but it would greatly help me work on my lines. i need to drop 3 seconds off my time to beat the record holder in my class.

Wasn;t hoping for a solution, but I think the camera being aimed a little off added to the sense of "looking one way and driving a different direction". It looks like allot of fun in the shifter carts. In a few months I am going to get to race in the non-shifter carts out at the Bondurant Racing School. Looking forward to it. Any tips?
depends on the motor package. if you are driving a kart that belongs to the place then the kart should be setup for that track. the best tip i can give you is that you should not be moving the steering wheel much. just a little bit. you are not in a drift car where you have to correct for the ass end coming out on you. just remember this SLOW IS SMOOTH, AND SMOOTH IS FAST. it is a mistake that most people make. the kart is actually supposed to just float around the turns. in karting if your sliding your not putting power to the ground and you will have shitty lap times. these things are meant to hook up and dont worry about binding the motor. its not gonna happen. also do if you want to be consitent with your laps do not shift your weight in the seat. study driving lines and where the apex is. and also remember you will go into a turn and see where the tires are hitting (ie. the dark marks on the asphalt) that is where the outside tires are hitting. so try a few laps slow and get your tires to follow the lines ive talked about. you will need to do a few laps anyway to get the tires up to temp. by then you will somewhat have an idea of where the kart is supposed to traveling. pretend you are in your car on normal streets. you dont jerk the wheel back in forth to compensate for the slide. hopefully this helps. and the kart you are gonna be going on is called a TAG kart. touch and go. its what i race. shifters take more skill to actually drive but tag karts being a single gear takes more finesse to be fast. you are rewarded for being smooth. one last thing. when you go into dont dive into the turn thinking you will be getting through it faster. just watch the video here and you willl see what im talking bout with how much the steering wheel moves

Thanks, cool vid. I have never driven a kart before. but have alot of legitimate high speed driving training, so I am familiar with the slow smooth doctrine and learning the apexing of turns. Good info on watching for the rubber buildup on turns and figuring that as the line for your outside tires. Thanks for sharing. If I get pictures or video, I will post up, but not sure when we are going, sometime in the spring. I think we are doing the 125cc TAG karts http://www.bondurantsuperkarts.com/kartspecs.php
My boss has two Bondurant Cobra Mustangs from before they bought Corvettes, but I haven't gotten to drive them yet, as he is getting them street legal first. Freeway speed cameras be damned!!

yeah those are CRG/ROTAX karts. CRG makes a bad ass kart. i have a MONZA which is the same thing as a Birel. no its not a knock off. the designers of that chassis made the plans for both companies. only difference is that MONZA doesnt advertise in the US so they are a little cheaper, offer better graphics/colors, and they are blue not red. i hate red. i had a parilla leopard motor which will spank a rotax motor any day of the week. Rotax classes are great though because that specific class paves the way to a driving career. you can do it with any class really there is just a larger following for Rotax. the track i run at everyone has a leopard motor so to be competetive you have to run one. rotax do better in road race courses. and unless you have training in driving a kart then you can throw most of what you have learned out of the window. you will have to relearn. i come from a racing family. dad raced pro mx. my lil bro races pro now. ive done the bmx and mx thing i just didnt like it. im more into auto racing. and trust me what i learned before meant nothing when i got in a kart. my lines were shitty and i was off the track more than i was on. good luck though on your day of karting. how much seat time will you get. just remember what i told you bout you having to relearn to drive when you are in the kart. your ass will fly off the course i guarentee. oh yeah another tip cuz this is the one i always forget. do not grip the wheel with an iron fist. grab it firmly but loosely if that makes any sense. if you grip it hella tight you will not feel what the kart is trying to tell you. when you turn the wheel try and turn the wheel with your shoulders. that will greatly help you with the small movements to the steering wheel. if you have any more questions lmk. ill try and answer all your questions
