Hawk Pictures
Couple of pics of a Hawk that frequents my yard. These were in the neighbor's tree, about 50 yards away. Pics were handheld with the Canon 7D and 100-400mm lens and are heavily cropped. I think it is a Coopers Hawk, but I need confirmation.

Thanks Dan. Then that means I have a couple of different hawks around. There is a Coper's Hawk that takes doves from my feeders. I think he is a bit larger than the guy in the pics above.

Speaking of feeders, I took this shot of a huge Pileated Woodpecker through our kitchen window earlier this week.

Great pic of the woodpecker Dan. I've yet to see one of those around. I have a few pair of Downies and Red-Bellied, but no Pileated.
The Cooper's Hawk will come in and sit on top of my patio umbrella. Of course all the birds scatter when he does. But he sits perfectly still and waits for the birds to come back, then grabs them when they do. I usually find the pile of feathers when he is done. One dove got away, and flew right through one of my windows. If it wasn't for the screen he would have crashed into the house. Cost me $75 bucks to replace the window.
