Changing Digital Camera Software?!
Changing Digital Camera Software?!
Hey everyone. I just bought an AWESOME digital camera, the Sony DSC-N1, but there's just one problem. After I take a picture, there is no button to review the pic and delete it. It has auto-review where the camera displays the pic for 2 sec after it is taken, but still no way to delete. I have to enter "Play" and then go to delete.
I was wondering if there were any way to program the digital camera to enter the delete menu by pressing a button? Like some time of upgrade I can download or create or something like that to transfer onto the camera?
Thanks.

I'm not sure of the question. There should be a menu system telling you to set the number of seconds the picture is displayed after taking it.,
As for getting pics off the memory stick, get a memory card reader and forget about the camera's software. Its alot easier.

Do I have this straight, you're saying you can delete your images but you have to switch to playback mode in order to do so? If so, that sounds normal to me. I've never heard of a camera that lets you delete images during the auto-preview that's displayed right after the image is captured.

Having not seen the manual or held the camera I can on guess this:
Put the switch on the right to the lowest position (the triangle) to view pictures.
Click on the Menu portion in the LCD screen:
Then hit Delete:
Totally guessing here.

Damn, I need to read better. Sorry. You already know how to do this. I did check out a couple online reviews and at least 1 said you couldn't delete pictures during the autopreview.

I contacted Sony about this. I really with they could add this fix to their next firmware upgrade. It would be really simple. There are just two buttons, the menu and the LCD view button. I don't use the LCD view button so why not make that a "review" button? Which I can then press again to go to delete, and then use the touch screen or something.
Hopefully they can/will do this.
Is there anyway to modify the firmware myself? Thanks.
My sony can, ? but im sure its not the same model as yours. After taking the picture, theres an auto-preview. I just hit the size/trash button[if i want to]. Then it ask if I really want to then its deleted.^if im understanding thats what u want it to do?

Seems a lot simpler than hacking the firmware yourself.
