There is no body for the pancake lens. The idea for one would be really good if Canon had a small body for it to be used on.

I'd carry that around all day, it would be my new pocket-cam.

I always thought the 1.3 crop factor was odd... is that still considered a FF? Or how does that work?

It's still a crop.

Just like how for Nikon it's 1.5 and 1.6 for canons

I like it cause you still get some wide angle with a little benefit of more reach for telephotos.

Sick. I heard the rumor that the 7d mkII will be off the crop line and into the entry level ff line, in which the 70d will be the best crop camera on the Canon line?

OK, so it's from a website that has been known to get it right in the past. Things good for shooters, camera companies doing things that their customers want them to do.

Thank You Nikon !!!

Canon EF 14-24 f/2.8L [CR2]
JUNE 15, 2012 CANON LENSES COMMENTS OFF

188
Share

New Ultrawide Zoom
There has been chatter about the possibilty of this lens since the day after Nikon announced their highly regarded 14-24 lens.

The latest is we’ll see this lens announced within the next 12 months. As always, nailing down lens announcement dates is near impossible with Canon. It was suggested that the EF 14-24 f/2.8L would be announced after the EF 200-400 f/4L IS 1.4x begins shipping, suspected late in 2012 or the first half of 2013.

An EF 14-24 f/2.8L would complete a pretty remarkable range of lenses in the Canon lineup along with the EF 24-70 f/2.8L II, EF 70-200 f/2.8L II & the unannounced EF 200-400 f/4L IS 1.4x.

Could it also be filterable (with a very large ring) for a circular polarizer?

not very pretty, but the rumors point to canon releasing a mirrorless for the mass market first, and then releasing a prosumer/professional/enthusiast model later.
it looks more like a powershot thats beefed up.

the images of the sensor maybe size it at the G1X sensor?

so about a 1.85/1.9x crop

Lastest I've heard is the sensor is going to be APS-C, presumably to compete with Sony's NEX series cameras. I think Canon is supposed to officially announce this camera next week so we'll have to wait and see if the rumors are true!

I'm totally not excited about this news.
I was hoping for something more rangefinder-ish and less powershot-ish.

Actually depending on the price and size, I may get this as a portable. If it takes EF lenses.

Well it uses EF-M, and CR said there's probably an adapter that'll be announced along with the official EF-M line. We'll see...

If there's supposed to be another model coming out later that's supposed to cater to the more serious photographer , I would think this one would be priced more modest . Maybe around $700- $800 with kit lens
