Canon: News, Rumors and Discussion Thread

Those are nice. Only thing is, the camera itself is looking to be around $600. The Amazon kits range around $650-700. They do look nice but I'm not of a fan of the look of them. I like the bulky look. I know its odd. Lol. Didn't want to start out spending $600 on the camera alone.
If $50 makes or breaks the camera for you then go for the Rebel... You're in for a shock when you get more into this hobby though.

And no. I'm not trying to impress anyone with the camera. It's what I feel comfortable with. I can care less who's looking at me. Lol.
I've been looking at pricing on different items. It gets costly. Especially with the lenses. But I don't plan on taking it to that extreme. Not unless I turn it into a profession. Until then, I'm not spending $600+ on a camera. For now....

The guy who takes pics for our dealership let me take his Canon Rebel for the weekend. Said he doesn't like Canon. He's a Sony fan. Funny thing is. He has two Sony A6000s. Lol. Took some pics and did a little editing in the Lightroom.
Slight editing.

Interesting.
Nokishita Camera has updated their list of registered cameras for certification.
The most interesting one is this. Which indicates a mirrorless camera, but is using the LP-E6/E6N battery from the 80D, 6D, 7D & 5D series cameras

Might see a camera from canon sooner than expected.
Current rumors call for 2 cameras. If this is true, this is likely NOT the "high end" model.

if it's a new mount but EF compatible, I wonder how that will work
i would hope its EF compatible, can't imagine Canon launching an entirely new mount with no lenses

it is a new mount. BUT rumors suggest that EF mount lenses should be able to mount directly.
not sure on those adapter rumors. Since they mention ND and PL it could be a filter adapter.
ND = neutral density
PL = polarizing filter

I ordered a new filter for the broken lens. Hopefully it's OK. It took a hard hit.

Kind of figured this would be the case.
But was hoping for someway to natively mount EF lenses w/o an adapter.

From Nokishita;
M adapter R was confirmed with “Mount Adapter EF – EOS R”. Three types of mount adapters are available with control ring and drop-in filter.

:ibonly1cardslot:
The backside looks more like a Rebel SL2 thou
looks like the R lenses have a programmable control wheel.

yea i saw that too. so i looked more into how dual pixel AF works.
kind of interesting
https://learn.usa.canon.com/resource...pixel-af.shtml
So basically with a 24mp sensor with 6000x4000 resolution, in the live area theres about 15.36 million AF points. That number they give is the just number of selectable AF points
kind of interesting
Dual Pixel CMOS AF, as of April 2018, is the only industry AF technology that uses every pixel on the imaging sensor to detect focus, and also to capture actual image information for still and video imagery. Focus can be detected anywhere, within a “live” area covering about 80% of the horizontal and vertical width of the entire CMOS imaging sensor.
