Advice on a digital camera
I need something that is thin, but durable. I'm looking to spend no more then $300. I'm not huge into photography, but I will be taking alot of pics. I want something that will fit in my pocket, so I'm not caring it around all the time.
I've went to bestbuy and looked at alot of them, but I wanted to ask you guys first before I make my decision.
Thanks

I have tried a Sony T1 and a Kodak V530.
Sony is better in some way, and the Kodak is better in another way.
The Kodak heavily compresses the picture making the picture very fuzzy.
The Kodak compresses the 5 Meg picture into 700-800k. The Sony compresses the same picture to 2 Meg.
On the other hand, the Kodak can take picture in a dimmer condition without firing the flash. The Sony cannot do that at all.
I think it is better to buy your camera from Ritz Camera instead of Best Buy.
You can take your memory card and go to Ritz and ask the guy to let you take a bunch of pictures to see which camera you like without much of a problem.
Best Buy is more difficult to do that.
They charge about the same anyway.

The Nikon D50 with lens is $599 from Ritz.
Wow this thing is getting cheaper and cheaper.

lol, yes size matters. I want to use it for my car and other events, but for mainly vacations where i'm not in my hotel for 10 hours at a time and dont have to worry about holding it everywhere.
How about olympus? anyone have or know anything about those?

The SD 630 is about as slim as you'll get in a P&S camera (20mm).

My Olympus always has problem focusing in dim light condition. The camera keeps hunting and then it just gives up.
Not to mention the xD card. Costco doesn't take it from their kiosk.

Not sure if you are still looking or not. I had purchased the SD630, and it is indeed very thin. I had some problems with picture quality, so I returned it and bought a Panasonic FX8 instead. The Panasonic is slightly thicker, not much, but it is smaller in its other dimensions. I have a universal cell phone case I wear on my belt and the camera fits in it perfectly. I don't have to worry about putting it in my pocket, works out very nicely. If you plan to shoot any videos with your camera, then I highly recommend the panasonic. It's image quality is on par with it's competitors, but the video quality is amazing. It shoots it in mov mode. I have a sample you can view on my server at http://www.mostlycrafts.com/cat.mov . I didn't buy the camera for taking videos and had no idea how clear it's videos were until I tried it, so it is a plus. Overall I like the camera a lot. And it only cost about $250
Well guys, I just picked up the Canon sd600. It was $299 and he gave it to me for $275. Overall, I like the camera alot. I'm just gonna have to learn all the features. I wanted the sd630, but I was set on going in and not purchasing for over $300. The 600 and 630 are basically the same camera, but the 630 just has a 3inch lcd screen, where as the 600 has 2.5
Now I have a question. I bought it at best buy for $275. I went home anc checked walmart for the same camera and they have it for $255. Any reason why? I think I'm gonna return the Bestbuy one and buy the one from walmart for $20 cheaper.

Well bestbuy compared walmarts price, I bought the 1gig memory card, and I walked out of there spending a little over $300. Not too bad. The look on the best buy customer service people was kind of funny when I told them I already bought the camera, but I want it at Walmarts price.
