Interesting attempt. It happens to be a very good photograph. I like the burnt out highlights and it works as a stylistic photo.
What I'm curious is if this isnt kind of against the whole point of HDR. Correct me if I'm I'm wrong but isnt the goal of a good HDR to have range throughout the whole spectrum to acheive and image with exposure in all ranges.

only 2 different exposures were used because the rest of them she was not standing perfectly. i agree, it def isn't the best range. it was more of a fooling around photo, i probably should have submitted something better. but i would not have been able to achieve the certain variations you see without HDR. while it has the obvious appeal at first, i was going for something more artistic as someone mentioned earlier. i will upload a full res for you guys to get a better look.

Here is my very first attempt at an HDR. I have never tried one before:

OK, please strike my originals....after looking at them again i was not happy. Especially with the dark patch on the right side, where all the branch detail somehow got muddied away. I redid the HDR and tried a few different things and came up with a version I am much more happy with.

Creepy guy in the mirror.
Crap!!! There are some sweet photos here...
I have one weaksauce attempt in my back pocket but am running out of time. With some of these entries it almost isnt worthwhile.
Good work all.

Since people have been posting photos, I'll post my entry. Not as impressive as the ones already entered. Great job people!

PhotoTechniques has a pretty good HDR article this issue
It's a good bi monthly magazine. The article has some walk through help in. It talks about the shortcomings of CS2 with HDR and about CS3 is a little better. And say that HDRsoft plug-in for CS is worth it.
The article is not available online, I think you will have to subscribe to the magazine. Not sure if you can get at the newstands.

^^^ I hope I did this right. I made it into a pdf and have it hosted on file factory....
http://www.filefactory.com/file/ad792d
Once there click the green download banner, then word verifier, then final d/l banner. If someone can host to this thread, go ahead.

Only real mention towards CS3 is that its auto-registration programming is way better then CS2.
I used CS3 to make my HDR.
Still says the hdrsoft is the best overall. At some point I may pay for the plugin to gain greater control. But for now I think CS3 will have to do.

i have no clue what i'm doing with photomatix. i don't even know how to save it as jpeg. it's always saved as tiff. so i d/led a tiff converter to convert it to jpeg. C&C please. also, there's a slight halo affect so i guess the pictures didn't align correctly in the program. nothing a little PS can't fix, but i'm too lazy at the moment.
