Worker psychology in Marysville on 11/4, my build date!

I'm wondering whether certain days of the year are better than others for assembling a car with the fewest defects.

Take tomorrow for example. That just happens to be my build date! Workers in Marysville, Ohio will awaken to a beautiful day with temperatures rising into the 70s under mostly sunny skies. That in itself should improve their outlook on the day since November rarely produces that kind of perfection in Ohio. What's more, the clocks turned back an hour last week which means that they've had an extra hour of sleep recently to feel well rested. Finally tomorrow is not a Monday when some people feel a bit lethargic. Put it all together and the workers of 11/4 should be happy, alert and ready to produce a quality product. I'll let you know whether I have a handle on worker psychology after the TL is delivered!

my build date too! here's how i see it:

Monday: Hung over from the weekend, depressed to be at work again--"case of the mondays"
Tuesday: Bright, peppy, cherry, ready to work!
Wednesday: Middle of the week, sick and tired
Thursday: Tomorrow's Friday! Yearning for the weekend, less concentration
Friday: End of the week, distracted by weekend plans

Tom Waits

Reminds me of the Tom Waits song 'Burma Shave'

"Marysville ain't nothing but a wide spot in the road"

It is. They're talking about the TL.

I made that mistake before too.

BTW, are we going to see you at the meet in Orange County on the 9th?

Sad to say, but I'm a TSX wannabe. I'm driving a 97 GS-R and we just bought my wife a new Accord, so it will be many more years before the budget allows for me to get the TSX. For now, I'm a voyeur on this site, enjoying the comments and experiences of the TSXers. I know I could come to the meet even without a TSX, but my weekends are ruled by kid activities.. Thaks for the invite.

There's only one problem. If I'm not mistaken it takes about 3 days to assemble the car from start to finish. In that case your characterization of Wednesday and Thursday would leave something to be desired. I've been working for 32 years now so I think I can give a pretty good impression of those two days:

Wednesday: Middle of the week, still charged up from Tuesday seeking to perfect what was left undone on Tuesday.

Thursday: Tomorrow's Friday! I'd better give it one last best shot before entering the "weekend zone".

There now doesn't that sound better!

that does sound better, and tuesday/wednesday/thursday sure beat monday and friday! Our cars will probably arrive at the same time too, maybe we'll both take delivery from alex at the same time. And Marysville is in for some showers tomorrow morning--I hope that doesn't make the work day too gloomy!

A 5% pay cut for Marysville plant workers? With a 38.7% increase in TL sales (comparing Oct 2002 with Oct 2003) and TL buyers willing to fork over full MSRP those workers should get a 5% pay raise not a cut. They are one of Acura's most valuable assets!

BTW the title of this previously cited article,

http://biz.yahoo.com/prnews/031103/lam134_1.html

mentions a 21.7% sales increase for Acura as a whole. Looking further down in the article, however, the table shows the 38.7% increase in TL sales.

Well at least they've had 10,000 cars to "experiment" on before they got to ours!

I just received my first DVD-Audio disc from DVDPlanet. It's Beethoven's Symphony #1 in C Major. That piece never fails to stir the emotions and should be a good introduction for the 5.1 system. Now if the darn V600 cell phone is released within the next 3 weeks the whole picture will come together just in time!

Yup he said it was enroute as of yesterday. They must build them faster than I thought. That will give just enough time to buy some more DVDs!
