Now that we're about to cut the check for this vehicle has anyone thought about what a reasonable processing fee should cost? I saw one dealer asking $249 for this fee on an '03 3.2TL. Is that about par for the course?

 

I paid nothing. It's not my responsibility to pay for the dealer's operations. If they want, give it to me with the white plastic still on it.

I think the only fee you need to pay is the Doc Fee, which should be around $50. In addition I paid $63 for DMV title/tags.

 

Zero. This is right up their with special paint coating in terms of bullshit added charges from dealers. You should not pay a dime more than the DMV charge. Be prepared to walk if they try to stick to it.

And some of the sales guys on this board wonder how dealers get a bad reputation... Harrumph!

 

agreed. My processing fee has already been waived. It's dealer negotiable, and since you're already paying full MSRP, you should demand it.

The worst part is if you negotiate it out, it comes out of the commissionable gross.

 

OK I would definitely like to negotiate this fee out of my deal. Where is one place within a 70 mile radius of Northern Virginia that has waived the processing fee for those of you who have already placed deposits?
