Supercars are a common sight in some parts of the Middle East, but until now, that region of the world has gone without an exotic of its own. Enter the LykanHypersport, an ultra-exclusive ride from Dubai-based startup W Motors. The upcoming car is said to accelerate from 0-62 mph in 2.8 seconds and offer Lamborghini-rivaling style for $3.4 million, according to WardsAuto.
<ins cite="mailto:Nishimoto,%20Alex" datetime="2013-01-28T10:41"></ins>
The LykanHypersport is the brainchild of Lebanese entrepreneur and designer Ralph Debbas, who began thinking up the supercar when he was an automotive design student. The wild, angular seven-figure exotic will be officially revealed to the public at the Qatar auto show, where W Motors will display a full-scale model made of carbon fiber and other lightweight materials, and built with help from specialty coachbuilder Magna Steyr Torino. The model currently lacks an interior and drivetrain, but will be powered by a midship flat-six engine from RUF, the company famous for custom Porsches. That engine is said to produce 750 hp and 738 lb-ft of torque, which could be enough to make the LykanHypersport’s claimed 242-mph top speed plausible. W Motors’ Performance estimates are based on computer simulations, as a running prototype has yet to be tested.
Because matching the performance of a comparatively cheap Lamborghini Aventador would give wealthy Middle Eastern customers nothing to brag about, the LykanHypersport will sport some serious bling. The headlights will feature diamond-encrusted LEDs, while the hood will be gold-plated – the perfect complement to the rest of the car’s lightweight construction. Inside, the supercar will receive a “holographic display” on the windshield. Whether this feature will look like the futuristic spy tech seen on the BMW i8 concept in 2011’s Mission: Impossible: Ghost Protocol is unknown.

I dunno...I think Lamborghini may be calling and asking to have their Aventador back. It seems kinda similar.
I mean, it's not terrible. Just that, I prefer what the Italians can do with ubercars over some millionaires in Dubai.

If I were to spend retarded amounts of money on a vehicle, it would be on a ZR1 for semi-retard, LFA for half retard, and Pagani Zonda for full on retard. Of course, my wife would just get the vehicle in the divorce so I wouldn't buy any of them, even if I had the money.

Stage 1 Audi S5
Diamond encrusted headlights :wtf: we thought it was bad when people were stealing xenon projectors.
I agree, Lamborghini knock off but it almost looks like they went too far and the angles are too extreme. Ferrari for me and a sick bank account please.

I am Lebanese so I am familiar with UAE lifestyle and its people's way of thinking. If you are a UAE national and you have a high school degree you will make around 6k a month, there are no taxes there. This is in addition to free education, medical care, and a house given to you when you get married. With a bachelor's you get arnd 10k a month. I met a couple of guys from Dubai in college and I was amazed with the kind of scholarships(full tuition+5k monthly expenses) they got to come study in the USA. For them its about luxury and exclusivity. If the average Joe in Dubai has an Audi for regular driving and a Lexus SUV for having fun in the desert, I can easily see 5 people from Dubai buying this car. At those prices its abt exclusivity not abt $/hp or $/0-60 seconds. Only 5 Lykan Hypersport cars will be produced worldwide. I am proud of the car designer and W Motors founder as he is the first Lebanese entrepreneur to dare to step into the auto world. I just wish he picked a better name than "W Motors".
