Cool Turbo, All Wheel Drive TSX

It has been reported in the Australian automotive magazine "Wheels" that a turbo, all wheel drive version is being considered for release in the second half of 2005. It is only rumour at the moment but often were there is smoke there is fire and we can only hope it will happen. Power figures are being reported at around 190KW from a 2.2- litre turbo, and the drive system would be an adaption of the auto on-demand MDX driveline.

Lovely first post, Euro

Okay, I'll bite.:shakehd:

To date, Honda has not released a turbo vehicle in the United States (several months ago, somebody here posted a picture of a minicar Honda sells in limited quantity in Japan that has a turbo).

The TSX is not a bulk sales vehicle for Honda in the US. It's more an afterthought, and, as a result, is unlikely to see many development dollars thrown at it. If a mystical AWD turbo is developed, it would certainly be designed for another market (Europe or Japan). Sending that vehicle across the pond to us would likely take another year or so.

Oh, EuroZ, if only you scanned the article and posted it for us. A much better rumor would have been that Honda is introducing its IMA system in AWD format for the TSX in 2005. Now that would be intriguing and almost possible.

I believe there is a 2.2L Turbo in development. There have been three independent sources of this info. This thread would be the fourth.

Love my car as is, but a turbo diesel (apparently already available in Europe?) or gas engine would be even better.

WOW! An AWD, Turbo TSX??? That would be HUGE!

I wonder if this was what Justin was referring to in another thread? He said something to the effect that something huge would happen at Acura, making the current TSX look rather tame... now, an AWD, Turbo TSX would certainly do that!!!

So, do I now just keep my TSX and then wait to trade up to that? Or should I still consider trading up to a 04 TL now? ;-)

lol and people think its kind of pricey now. Add an awd system and turbo on top of that and it'd cost as much if not more then the TL.

I doubt that, most AWD systems add $1500-2000 to the price of a new car. I can't see a Turbo and the necessary modifications associated w/ adding a turbo costing more than $2000. So, my guess is if we ever see a vehicle like this, don't expect it to cost more than $4k over that of a regular TSX. Any more than that and Acura had better upgrade the suspension, brakes, wheels/tires, seats, etc. In which case it will still probably be a little less than the TL.

If I can pay $2000 now just to add Turbo to my TSX, I would go for it!!!

Even if the price for a Turbo AWD TSX gets close to a non-Navi TL, I think that there is still a big market for it. The only trouble is, it may then steal lots of potential TL buyers away :-)
