anyone (esp justin n other acura insiders) know if acura will come out with a tsx type S or a upgraded tsx in the next year or so? i love this tsx model, but just wondering...

 

Not an insider, but: Consensus seems to be, no "S" for at least a couple of years, if ever.

No upgraded anything for over a year; next model not coming out probably till ~ Sept. '04.

 

thanx larch!... and i dont get why some, not all, of these dumb salesmen tell me they only have 15000 tsx's and they will run out ... so "put a deposit in now"...bla bla

 

Because there were only 15000 TSX's allotted for the US this year.

 

They are limited but we won't run out, hence the word "allocation". The TSX simply shares an assembly line with the RSX, also with the TL coming out ACura wants to make sure that demand and supply stay appropriate. each dealer will continue to get cars. The type S moniker will not adorn the
TSX it was simply a segway to the new strategy for Acura. It may remain on the RSX but the current TSX is what would have been the S type if we had one.

Mo we have argued this since last year! Of course, that was on the dark side.

TSX + V6 = 2004 TL. The TL will be built for the additional torque and weight of the V6 engine. You will still be able to get a 6-speed, along with better brakes, 18" wheels, and summer tires.

In a Type S TSX, I would like the following:

18" forged wheels (lighter, stronger)
summer tires
another 40 horsepower
earlier switchover to VTEC
slightly taller gearing (lower rpms while cruising)
killer sound system with satellite radio

What I don't want:
body kit
"look at me" rear spoiler

Yeah, I did -- got a kick outta it. But it was "well disguised." I realized a lot of people wouldn't get it.

I predict we'll see something in Fall 2004 for the 2005 model year.

 

240hp 2.4L Type S in 2004 says "templeofvtec.net". Don't know if they are correct, but the only reason not to bring it out was that the 240hp in the type S would give it more HP than the base TL. When the TL comes out that is fixed (270HP), I bet the late '04 date is correct, and I will wait to see if it is before I buy.
