If you're under $80k MSRP then I believe the incentives are still there.

I’d probably wait for the R2 their current offerings are too large for my needs.

Yep, the incentives are there for the R1T and R1S, but go away above $80k.

So these are a lot easier to produce? Because they were losing $40k per vehicle when they sold the R1T for $90k.

I'm seeing some cost savings with LFP battery, some reduction in wiring, fuses, and ECUs, and some new motors. I'll assume that makes things cheaper but that doesn't sound like $40k in savings

How long did it take for Tesla to become profitable?

Probably because you're forgetting about all the other non part costs related to making a vehicle.

Just got back from a week in CA, saw a ton of R1 models all over the LA area. Not quite so many up in Bakersfield.

There's a green R1T that parks near me at work. I love it. Can't wait for the R2/R3X to come out.

Guessing Rivians are more popular in CA than in Houston.

There's one that parks in my garage every day, the owner is a fucking asshole.

R3X is going to be bomb. Everyone is talking about it, even more so than the R2.

Much, but I do see a lot here as well. Just many times more in CA. Lot of Ioniq running around too

@SamDoe1
Either saw the same white R1T from Sunday, today. Or the gold tow hooks are a more popular thing.
Too much traffic to try to get a photo, but it looks nice on a white truck. With the gold calipers & door trim, would probably look good on green too

No desire for yellow tow hooks on mine. I want to black them out along with all the badging lol.

Edit: @00TL-P3.2 this is what mine looks like (old pic given the snow but it hasn't changed lol)

Also, these partnerships are only going to grow for Rivian. It's not a walled garden like Tesla and they are actively willing to work with others to optimize their own products as well as others. The EDV is a big example of adapting features and requirements through a partnership with the world's largest distributor into a product that can be used by everyone. VW is another big one. VW software and hardware blows but damn do they know how to make shit and make it well, efficiently, and quickly. That's a key partnership.

@00TL-P3.2 maybe time to get a R1T to power your house after a hurricane lol. Should be plenty to keep the lights on for a while!

I could do some major power upgrades to the house for what it would cost to acquire the R1T & the ancillaries for this capability.
For the price of the average newer used car, I could get a fixed install Generac & be worry free for the whole thing.

Touche.
I suppose we could live in an R1S, since that would be what it would take to afford one right now

Rivian thought about you on that one...the R2 can also power your house though at 11kW.

An R3 would maybe be possible, at the lower trim.
Just not in a car buying mode right now.

No word on if R3 can power your house haha.

The R1 is truly an amazing thing though. I was just talking to my wife about this and, if something were to happen to my R1T I'd probably just buy another one because I absolutely love the thing. Once we get close to the warranty expiring I might just see if I can find a used R1T Quad Max. Hopefully they will depreciate nicely haha.

It is but the Gen 2 Quad Max is 1050hp vs 850hp and has a few other updates.
