Porsche, Jaguar and Lexus among import brands adding incentives

By RALPH KISIEL | Automotive News

Although the new model year officially began Oct. 1, Porsche, Jaguar and Lexus are placing incentives on some 2004 models.

Porsche is offering 3.99 percent financing on its 2004 Cayenne SUV. That rate is set to expire Oct. 31.

Jaguar has added financing of 2.9 percent to 4.9 percent on the 2004 and 2003 S-Type and X-Type models. The rates expire Jan. 2.

Lexus is offering 3.49 percent financing on the 2004 IS 300, GS 430 and GS 300. The rate expires Nov. 3.

Three other automakers have put incentives on some 2003 vehicles.

Honda has added 2.9 percent financing on its 2003 Accord. The offer expires Dec. 1. The automaker is offering the same 2.9 percent financing rate on its 2003 Civic, but the offer expires earlier, on Oct. 31. Acura has placed 2.9 percent financing on the 2003 RSX.

Suzuki now offers a $2,500 customer rebate or 0 percent financing on all 2003 models. The offer expires Oct. 31.

Mazda will pay $2,750 on its 2003 Miata; $2,500 on its Protege, Protege5, MPV and Tribute; and $500 to $3,500 on its pickup. In lieu of rebates, Mazda is offering 0 percent financing on these models.

Mazda also is offering $2,000 in rebates on its Mazda6 and Mazdaspeed Protege. The Mazda offers expire Dec. 1.

I have never seen so many incentives offered my foreign car companies. I beleive that this is only a sign of super high car prices.

Lexus has offered that for awhile now for the IS/GS. You need a 710 credit score.

Interesting to see the RSX there though. I wonder if that means it's not selling well.
