'Big Daddy Diggler'
If the current Bonny came out in the mid 90's, then it would have a stronger presence. It just came out at the wrong time. And now with the Grand Prix offereing a 5.2 or 3 Litre version of the LS1 engine, there is no need for the GXP bonny anymore.

Future Products—Pontiac - - Source: Autoweek
GM has targeted the 2010 model year for the introduction of a sporty new sedan. GM is considering a V-8-powered, mid-sized rwd sedan based on its rwd global vehicle architecture. GM insiders say the vehicle would be "one notch up" from the Grand Prix in terms of performance, content and price. One possible name is G8.

Why drop the Bonneville name?
....I know, I know everyone wants to be euro with letters and numbers, but the Bonneville name has some weight behind it...no? (no pun intended)

2010 Pontiac G8 - - Source: http://info.detnews.com/
Pontiac may get 2010 Grand Prix replacement
General Motors Corp. engineers in Australia have been testing prototypes of a new rear-wheel-drive sedan that's being jointly developed with GM subsidiary Holden. Versions of the sedan are expected to be sold by Buick and Chevrolet. Pontiac also has been planning to market its own variant -- sort of a four-door companion to the next-generation GTO -- that would replace the current Grand Prix. The Pontiac version likely would be badged G8.
The first of the new models will go into production in mid-2009 in the U.S., in time for model year 2010. Of course, Holden will have its own editions as well, to replace the big Commodore and Statesman sedans.

I think it'll make a fins Bonneville. Long live RWD! Rather than boring, as a 2000 TL owner, I refer to the lines as "classic", and the same applies to this car.

Yeah, the Statesman is the shit. I think it's actually a longer version of the Commodore sedan (which is around 5-Series/M35 size). The Statesman is big enough to fuck with the flagship sedans (size wise, I mean). It'll be interesting to see what brands get what cars, and how much they'll be differentiated. I've read all kinks of rumors affecting the future lineups of Buick, Pontiac, and Chevy in regards to these two sedans (both share the Zeta architecture).

Holden Commodore SS set to become Pontiac G8 - - Source: Autoweek
General Motors is expected to expand Pontiac's U.S. product line with a rebadged rear-drive Australian sedan.
The Holden Commodore SS will be called the Pontiac G8 and priced around $25,000, according to the Herald Sun in Melbourne, Australia.
While GM Vice Chairman Bob Lutz did not confirm the plan, he told the newspaper, "It's such a logical thing to do. The volume range is 30,000 to 50,000. It depends on how we price it." He refused to say when shipments might begin.
Lutz said details would be revealed next month.
"We have yet to make an official announcement," Lutz said. "Much more will be revealed at the Chicago show."
This will be GM's second try at selling a rebadged Holden model as a Pontiac in the United States. The Holden Monaro was marketed as the Pontiac GTO for the 2004 to 2006 model years. Sales did not live up to expectations.

Yes, it's coming. Good news today. The Commodore SS is the high performance V8 version of the car. I hope that the SS version comes in addition to a standard car with the HFV6 in it. Offering this car with just a V8 would be foolish.

For those that regard the VE or upcoming Pontiac G8 as boring and looking like a Cadillac Catera.
With 50:50 weight distribution, wheels pushed to the sides and short front and rear overhang this car is an excellent handler (old BMW like, maybe even better than new BMW). It should also have the grunty and highly modable GenIV LSx V8 engine.
Add in the GenTTr turbo kits................700+hp easy (lsiturbo.com.au)
