Pininfarina: Sintesi Concept news...
From Top Gear...
Even three years on, we still remember Pininfarina's astonishing Maserati Birdcage 75th concept with rose-tinted nostalgia. But at this year's Geneva show, the Italian design house will unveil a successor to the fantastical Maser in the shape of the Sintesi concept car.
Beyond this lightly pencilled sketch, we don't know much about the Sintesi - Italian for 'summary', by the way. But Pininfarina says it will blend themes from the Birdcage and its 2004 Nido concept, an unassuming, VW Up!-ish city car. We're guessing the Sintesi will lean much more towards the latter than the former.
There's no word on any technical details, but since Pininfarina is aiming to build an electric car in-house by the end of the year, expect a battery pack to lurk somewhere beneath the Sintesi's curved, folded skin.
We'll get the skinny (no, still can't make that sound cool) on the Sintesi in Geneva in early March.

Pininfarina annouces Clancast system for Sintesi concept
From LLN...
Pininfarina — the go-to design house for Ferrari and others — released a sketch of its concept set to bow at the Geneva Motor Show last month, and has today released a little more info on the car. Dubbed the Sintesi, the show car will not only be stylish but will also showcase some new active safety systems.
"This concept car is the synthesis of our values, of the love for our work and our passion for innovation, of beauty driven by functionality, of sportiness and elegance. However, Sintesi isn't only the expression of Pininfarina design; it also embraces innovative technologies that allow us to explore new typologies of mobility, active safety and packaging solutions" said Lowie Vermeersch, the lead designer of the project.
One of the technologies the Sintesi concept will debut is a system Pininfarina calls Clancast. The Clancast system talks with other cars on the road to communicate traffic patterns, eliminating the need for traffic lights and other street signs.
The show car was penned under Lowie Vermeersch — the company's head of design — and is the first concept Pininfarina has shown in three years.
Check back for more images and details after the Sintesi's official unveiling in March.

Pininfarina releases sketches of Sintesi concept
From LLN...
Pininfarina — the go-to design house for Ferrari and others — has released a series of sketches of its concept set to bow at the Geneva Motor Show last month. Dubbed the Sintesi, the show car will not only be stylish but will also showcase some new active safety systems.

From the sketches released today, we can also infer that the car will use a hydrogen fuel-cell and will have seating for four.
