"A "mini" EVO? Well, not exactly as the new Mitsubishi Colt Ralliart Version-R is basically a tuned up Colt Turbo. Ralliart has given the Japanese compact hatch an aggressive look with a new body kit.
The mechanical changes -from what I can read from the translated kit, seem to be located in the stiffened suspension, the bigger brake discs (from the European Colt Turbo) and a new exhaust system that slightly improves the 1.5 Turbocharged engine (154PS/6000rpm, torque 21.4kg-m/3500rpm).The Ralliart Version-R kit is also available with Mitsubishi’s compact MPV edition of the Colt, Colt Plus.
If you still think that this hot hatch is underrated, Ralliart has the answer for you as Mitusbishi's official tuner has a bag of tricks that upgrade the car's appearance and -or- its dynamics."

As a former owner of an 89 Colt GT, I am glad to see the return of a Mirage/Colt Turbo. It was the ultimate sleeper during its time. I would like this one better if it were a 3-door not a 5-door.

With the Fit and Yaris coming stateside and Nissan producing the Versa, I would hope that Mitsu jumps on this bandwagon with the Colt AND a Ralliart variant. Seems like it could conincide with my son getting his license in 17 months.

If you mean hp/tq, I think it converts to 152hp/158lb-ft. If they can keep the weight <2,500lbs, then it should perform well.

Mitsubishi: Colt news
Mitsubishi used the LA Auto Show on Wednesday to announce a plan to bring the Colt supermini to North America. More specifically, the automaker says it will begin offering the car at U.S. dealers some time in 2010.
The Colt was recently redesigned, so we don’t expect any dramatic changes compared to the model currently sold in Europe. The hatchback is offered in both three-door and five-door models, but it remains unclear whether both or just one variant will make it here.
In any case, we expect the U.S. model to use a similar motor to the one offered in Europe, albeit with a few changes. The car comes with a 1.5-liter MIVEC four-cylinder that offers 104 horsepower and 104 pound-feet of torque. The version for America might gain some extra power to meet consumer expectations.
Also offered in Europe is the Colt Ralliart, which is a sportier version of the car, but with the same engine. Whether a more performance-oriented version with a more powerful motor might come stateside is a topic of much speculation.
We expected further details from Mitsubishi in the coming weeks and months

Everyone these days is selling a small hatch in N.A.
Fiat 500, Ford Fiesta, Mazda 2, Honda Fit, VW polo.....
...so much for "Americans hate hatches".
