M3 Engine Recall

News: BMW to Recall M3 Cars to Fix Engine Defect

Kyodo News - April 22, 2003

TOKYO, Apr 22, 2003 (Kyodo via COMTEX) -- BMW AG said Tuesday it will recall 218 units of its M3 passenger car to fix defective engine bearings.

Subject to the recall are vehicles made between October 2001 and February 2002, the German automaker said in a report submitted to the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport.

BMW said the defect can halt engines and make them impossible to restart.

Isn't this old news already? Looking at the date it doesn't appear to be.

actually its kinda old. Most M3 owners got notices about the recall few months back. Most had it already taken care of and are running fine now.
