Lexus: IS News
#201
Okay, now 2 sources at Clublex and .NET have said the same thing about the next IS;
Posted: 13 Sep 2004 14:19 Confirmed info on the new IS.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I am not sure if you guys have read this or heard about it but I thought it might be newsworthy as I heard it as offical Lexus information. Not spy mag bullshit.
The new IS is about one year away as a 2006 model. It will have a 2.5l V6 with 265hp and awd. A second engine will be offered, a 3.5l with 300hp, available as a rwd drive only. Lexus is saying they will never get beat by hp again. Also the price on the 265hp car is rumored to be about $30k.

They are taking their good old time. Find hard to believe Lexus would mention hp and not getting beat, they will surely get beat at 300hp by the time these cars get out.

ive yet to see toyota compete with any of the japanese automakers or germans in the horsepower wars, it seems fishy to me. look at toyota and what they did with the celica and the addition of the scion line. i could never see toyota/lexus doing something like this, lets see.

I believe it when I see it from Lexus. Knowing Infiniti and Acura, if the IS300 gets 300hp, they'll bump it up to 350hp

2006 Lexus IS
On Sale : Summer 2005
The IS 300 is being prepared for a full design change, and Lexus has been hinting at how it will look by way of concepts and such. The current inline-6 will most definately be ditched for a 3.0L Camry V6, with more power. There are plans for a convertible, possibly with a hard top. It is still possible that Lexus may go ahead with a V8 model in the future.

Very interesting concept. The hard cuts and swoopy up swings in the profile are interestijng. It's a shame the c-pillar doesn't intergrate more gracefully into the trunklid... it's a very abrupt break. I don't like it as much as the G35C, but one thing is for sure; it won't be mistaken for anything else, and that speads volumes.

LS 420? I think that's for the Japanese market. If anything, I expect the new LS to have a bigger engine, and thus, a different number after LS that won't be smaller than 430.

Diesel At Last For Lexus IS - - Source: AutoExpress
Sleeker, faster and now available with diesel power for the first time, the new Lexus IS promises to be a fiercer challenger than ever to BMW's 3-Series.
Set to be unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show next month, the Japanese car has an impressive engine line-up to match its sporty looks. The entry-level IS250 will be powered by a 215bhp 2.5-litre direct-injection V6, while the flagship IS350 will have a 315bhp 3.5 V6. The first diesel engine to be offered in the range is a newly developed four-cylinder 2.2-litre direct-injection turbo D-4D unit, with power being sent to the rear wheels through a six-speed manual. Petrol variants, however, will feature a sequential automatic transmission instead.
The new IS range is expected to hit British showrooms in early 2006, priced from around £19,000.
