Lexus: GS News

I have to admit I like the grille...all those tiny vertical bars...makes it look very detailed and expensive.
Still not feeling teh ass mass.

While I dont think its ugly... it looks very downmarket... and plain boring in person.
It was the most unimpressive new car at last years autoshow.

Well, it was the show's personal coverage

The gauges light up very nicely. Interior is coming up nicer than original spy pics.

Quality war heating up.
I like the GS's interior the best, followed closely by the RL.

Midnight Marauder
On the RL, the big gap between the glove box and the rest of the front dash throws off the quality a bit, but otherwise from those pictures it seems to be a toss up between all three of them.

The doors
I think the interior door design of the RL looks more high end and more modern than in the Lexus and Infiniti. I never liked the Infiniti's 1990-ish curtain leather treatment. I can't believe it's actually making it to production. Props to Lexus for trying to make the shape of the wood unique in the doors and for offering different wood choices. But I think the RL's design still looks better.
So in this segment, RL > GS > M35/45. But none of them still have red lights in addition to the puddle lamps. In the Mercedes E-class, there is a red light along with the usual yellow puddle light to alert oncoming drivers to either stop or slow down, as red is the universal color for stop. 1 point deduction for everyone.

Gauges
I think the GS's illumination owns all (especially with the needle that really lights up). RL and M35 are nice, but the blue in the RL looks better than the orange in the M35. But the GS really puts on a light show.

I think that M owns all of the other exteriors. That M vs RL vs GS id have to say M > GS > RL. Interior they're all tie, equally sexy.

I think the GS interior is going to kicks ass, the Infiniti looks a few notches higher than what they typically put out.......but I guarantee it won't touch Lexus in the refinement dept.
For those that are familiar with both makes, I don't see how you could disagree.

As for tas the interior goes, the M wins hands down. The shape of the dash is hot and I love that they put the navi screen that high... talk about ergonomics. I also like the M's liberal use of wood and real aluminum in it's car. The GS's interior stack is tight as hell too, and the new shape of the main interface is like nothing on the market... I just think the M looks better. The RL's interior didn't impress me at all... those pillars and huge knob seem out of place to me in a car of this league. 1st: M 2nd: GS 3rd: RL
As far as the gauges go, the M's are orange is ugly. I do like the chrome rings around the gauges, though. The RL's are crisp and clean, and I think they look great. I like the design and attention to detail, and if you look closely they use multicolors in the gauges... very very nice. As phile said, however, the GS owns this competition hands down. That is the coolest blue (outside of the SL) I've ever seen and they're so bright they're blinding... plus the damn needle lights up! That's some hot hot shit. 1st: GS 2nd: RL 3rd: M

I think the RL's dash looks better than the dash of the other two. I wonder which one feels better.

It's amazing how far Infiniti has come. GM should go to school and study the Nissan/Infiniti case and dont get out of school untill they answer 100% of the questions correctly on the test at the end. Infiniti shows what losers others are. Especially the ones that are saying "we're going for a dramatic change for the better". Compared to Cadillac which everyone is admiting has improved a lot, Inifiniti should be lauging at.
3-4 years ago, Infiniti had...pretty much nothing to show for itself. The I30 and the G20. Remember those? Now, we're all sitting here and flat out comparing the Infiniti to Lexus design and quality and cant decide which one is better. Think about this. It took them 3-4 years to get to this point. GM has already been trying for 3-4 years and Ford for 2-3 years. And they have...pretty much nothing to show for it (especially Ford). How much of a loser team can a company have and NOT KNOW IT?
I want to see GM kick ass as you know, but I have lost hope at this point.
