Mom used to have a 92 LS before gettign an RX, that thing was quiet but if you floored it the engine made the V8 growl very lowly, it was such an awesome sound.

i LOVE this car. but i would still take the new 5 series over it cuz I LOVE IT MORE. lol

1sicklex... your argument to darrin is invalid. im sure he would of bought a compareable bimmer over a CL were it in the same price range too.

Haha, I'd still buy the 5 too unfortunately. I want Toyota to be at that point, but they aren't and they aren't even trying to move closer to the ultimate driving machine. They are the ultimate luxury machine which is nice for sales but it aint shit for the entusiast and Bmw is right there on top next to Lexus with their less that perfect quality but better than average performance. 540i is going to walk all over the new 430GS because for one they didn't turn the 5-series into a boat, its the same damn size, not American supersized.

I'm... not impressed. At all.

I'm diggin the profile, interior is a given with Lexus, but I nothing eye-popping. I think Acura did a slightly better job with the TL.

I dont want to merge it nor lock it, because this thread should represent the "rumors and news" before the GS was officially introduced and the thread in the NAIAS segment, should be the official unveiling.

The car has some nice lines ... but they wrecked the rear. What is that?! I thought Lexus took every single detail to consideration but the rear ... was it an after-thought?!

I'm quite disappointed by the new GS. This was on my list of potential "next cars" after my TL-S ... maybe the new design will grow on me. Who knows?

But I still am anxious to see what the finalized versions of the new Supra and Skyline GT-R will look like!

According to autospies.com, the LF-S concept (not this one, the one that was shown in Tokyo) is actually the new Lexus IS! It was never a GS, which was already too far in development when the concept was unveiled.

I wonder if the rear seats will fold down...
Now if they can get black wood or aluminum trim for the black interior.. (not a big fan of wood trim in my cars )

It would look tacky with aluminum trim. Now with the real pics of all three Japanese contenders, I think the Infiniti's M35/45 is by far the tackiest...too much metal. With the RL there's aluminum only on the center stack, and even there I have reservations about how well they pull it off.

I disagree. The M's not tacky at all... it only has two strips of aluminum on the sides of the the center stack. I think it's tasteful.

Well the metal trim is optional with infiniti. Thats the biggest thing I see seperating infiniti/lexus from acura, acura has no options.

The gs looks nice, have to see some real interior pics with the black wood, not big on the other color.

300hp is so lame, the GS400 came out in 98 and it had 300hp...... its 2004 folks.

Granted the car will be a little quicker due to the 6spd auto, but still.

I was expecting atleast 325 for the new G. Hell the new RL has that and it only has a V6.

But supposedly there's an even bigger V8 that'll be unleashed later in the car's cycle. Probably will be shared with the LS again.

It definitely needs more hp from it's v8 and it's 6 cylinder option is pretty weak IMO. 245hp isn't bad, but it's torque rating isn't great. I wish they used the engine from the new Avalon (280hp)

Yes. It's rumored as 5 liters large. That should give it a good bump in HP and more importantly torque.
