Name: Sesto Elemento (Sixth Element)
Leftlane has been tracking the release of a series of preview images from Lamborghini for two weeks, and we now have a sixth teaser and a complete leaked image of what was once believed to be the upcoming Jota. Thanks to the work from a French website, Blog Automobile, we now know some details about this mystery concept. For starters, the car is be called Sesto Elemento, and is comprised entirely of carbon fiber - resulting in a total weight of just 999 kg, or 2,198 lbs. Because of the combination of the incredibly low weight and a V10 engine, zero-to-60 times are expected to come in around 2.5 seconds. Although Lamborghini intentionally left out any sort of description of what the pictures are of, we now know the first image was taken from the side of the vehicle, next to the windshield, and looking back down and across the hood. The carbon fiber likely extends down to the front of the hood, and the interesting-looking black object that appears to be anchored near the bottom right of the image may in fact be a wiper blade. The second image was of some sort of ventilation holes for the rear-hood, likely for the 10-cylinder engine underneath to breath out of. Following that image was an incredibly unique interior layout shot, showing a very new approach to the traditionally closed off design of the modern automobile dash. Lamborghini is often known for its wild and enticing exterior designs, but the interior of this mystery car may end up stealing the show. For the fourth image, it was quite difficult to determine precisely what we were looking at. We can make out a Lamborghini bull and shield logo in the center - possibly hinting at this being a wheel. If it is not a wheel, your guess is as good (or better) than ours. As with the other images Lamborghini released, for the fifth image we were given no information or a description - just pure, unadulterated carbon fiber automotive perfection. Luckily, this one was a bit easier. The image was shot from behind the driver's seat, with the focus set on the seatback, and a red steering wheel fading in the distance. The sixth image was also a bit easier, this time showing a close-up of the vehicle's wild rear fascia and spoiler decked out in carbon fiber. Be sure to check back with Leftlane regularly throughout the week as we begin to bring you live coverage from the Paris Motor Show floor - which will include the Sesto Elemento. |

official released Lamborghini Sesto Elemento
worldcarfans
Finally, the wait is over. After 6 tantalizing teaser images and one leaked, we have the full details and high res photos of the Lamborghini Sesto Elemento Concept (Sixth Element Concept). Utilizing advanced carbon fiber construction technology, the demonstration vehicle is has a curb weight of just 999 kilograms (2,202 lb) compared to the Gallardo LP 570-4 Superleggera dry weight of 1,340 kg (2954 lbs). Included in that mass is a naturally-aspirated 5.2-liter V10 engine also from the Gallardo LP 570-4 Superleggera with 570 PS (419 kW / 562 bhp) and permanent all-wheel drive which renders a power-to-weight ratio of only 1.75 kilograms per horsepower. 0 to 100 km/h (0-62 mph) takes only 2.5 seconds and top speed is well above 300 km/h (217.5 mph). These are just the surface highlights. Below the surface, Lamborghini lays claim to being a worldwide leader in carbon-fiber reinforced plastics (CFRP) technology and backs it up with the radical extreme lightweight concept as its proof. In the press statement Lamborghini states they are, "the only vehicle manufacturer in the world to have mastered the complete CFRP process across a range of technologies, from 3D design through simulation, validation, production and testing – all in a state-of-the-art industrial process that stands for the very highest quality standards." The result, "an unbelievable degree of driving fun, concentrated on absolutely sensational dynamics." The carbon fiber structure not only includes the monocoque cell but extends to the front frame structure, exterior panels and crash boxes. Elsewhere, carbon fiber is used in major suspension components, wheels and the drive shaft. Other materials such as Pyrosic, which is an advanced glass-ceramic matrix composite, is used in the tailpipes. The Sixth Element Concept uses the triangle shape as a prevailing design theme. Examples of its use can be found in the diamond cut headlamps, deep openings in the hood, door handles, side panel openings and mirror stalks. Coated in a matt-shimmer clear coat with red tinted crystals, the carbon fiber weave is visible throughout with a red glow. One of the highlights of the concept is the interior. Conventional trim panels have no place here as the composite tub forms the entire interior structure including the center console, dash panel and seats. The seat cushions as fastened directly to the seat structures molded into the carbon fiber monocoque. Looking around the interior from the roof to the floor and doors, all you see is carbon fiber. Lamborghini gives no hints of an impending model to come forth from this concept except by stating repeatedly this is how the future of a super car can look. However, they leave room for speculation by acknowledging this technology will be applied to all future Lamborghinis. |
:what: 2200lbs. Whoa
|
Yep, she's definitely skinny.
|
Neat....love the weight!!!....or lack thereof.
...but dont' care for all the triangle-angular shape. |
i like the outside ... but the inside is a bit to much for me.

Its obviously not a production car but still...kind of ugly. I know what they were going for but its just not workin...however...
2,200 lbs is unreal. |
In all its ugliness straight from the show...
|
Ugliest, fastest Lambo ever?
|
yikes. huge fail from rendering -> prototype.
ive said it before, the multi-faceted exterior (i.e. reventon) looks like shit. i get it, its something different, it looks cutting edge, and all of the angles and folds allow you to have a lightweight rigid structure. but at the same time, theres a large disconnect between the multi-faceted exterior and a historical italian supercar. by nature, italian sports cars are supposed to be curvy & sensual with harmonious proportions that are pleasant to the eye...basically the complete opposite of what lambo has/will come to be....i guess if you dont like it, go buy a ferrari, heh. |
The rear remind me of the Lancia Stratos concept big ass...
|
I like the exterior, but not the interior, especially the steering wheel. They said will probably never come out as a production car, but just like the Reventon, this is probably the "F-117 stealth fighter" design for the Gallardo.
|
I'm a huge Lambo fan but I don't like that at all. The rear end is stacked too high
|
Appreciate the performance numbers. However, I hope it stays a concept though, looks horrid.
|
If they do make it a production model, it won't look like that. It doesn't look like the car is even sporting a rear bumper and that rear differential wouldn't poke out like that, so the rear of the car would be quite a bit longer.
The Reventon pulled it off very well, this looks like a disaster....WAY too much going on, nothing flows...its just one giant angular mess. WTF is that interior texture supposed to be? They should've just put a Gallardo engine in an Ariel Atom with a miniature AWD drivetrain and called it a day  |
Not sure if my friend was at the event or not  but I took these pics off his facebook:

Love the weight, not the design. They'd be better served taking the construction techniques and applying them to a more classically styled car.
What I really find interesting is the weight of the Lambo (2,200 lbs) versus the weight of the new Lotus Esprit (3,200 lbs). Who'd of thunk it? Hell, even the Elise is coming in at 2,400 lbs. |

Car looks a lot better in Evo's photos. http://www.evo.co.uk/images/front_pi..._397258_25.jpg http://www.evo.co.uk/images/front_pi..._397261_12.jpg http://www.evo.co.uk/images/front_pi..._397255_25.jpg http://www.evo.co.uk/images/front_pi..._397267_25.jpg http://www.evo.co.uk/images/front_pi..._397264_25.jpg http://www.evo.co.uk/news/evonews/25..._supercar.html |
the extrusion for the sideview mirror is a first. pretty cool...and dramatic...
|
|
I guess I'm in the minority that likes the sharp angles. I personally loved the design of the Reventon.
Exterior looks good in my opinion. The interior is a bit much - like the triangle cut-outs/inserts on the interior doors :lame: And wtf is that red (rounded) triangle thingy underneath the rear bumper? Parachute hatch? |
hmmm... I like the F117, but not on 4 wheels. And what's up with the entire rear? Looks like the designer's brain exploded.
|
:what:
I kind of like it. Interiors is kind of :ugh: |
:what: I really, really like it!
|
I think it's cool and it's so outrageous, totally extroverted. It's great low Lambo's going in a completely different direction than Ferrari. If you compare this with the 458, it's like two futuristic cars but from totally different Sci-Fi worlds.
I expect the production lambo to be toned-down, but in real life I'm sure it will make a huge statement, much more in-your-face than a Ferrari. |
I like it. But I would like it even more if it was all black. Get rid of the red and change it to black!

That's if they ever decide to produce it. As far as Winkelmann is concerned, it's merely to display how they will be developing CF into their future vehicles.
|
I guess my only complaint is that it still looks too much like a Gallardo, it has exactly the same shape and proportions. Hopefully the next Lambo is something different and fresh.
|
I like the design a lot. It looks like an exige on roids.
|
Amazing look, until the rear lower bumper... thats where they lost me... The interior is typical of a concept... way over the top...
|
I like the severe edgy design. It does exactly what a concept should do, presenting a point being emphasized ten fold. It's an eye catching design and should prove to be really interesting to see those elements distilled for the street.
|
Looks liek something out of terminator salvation LOL
