Lamborghini: Sesto Elemento News **2011 Frankfurt Show Speculation (page 4)**

http://www.roadandtrack.com/future-c...mborghini-jota

It might have been blisteringly cold at Volkswagen/Audi’s secret test location in northern Scandinavia, but the prototype car in question was red hot: It’s the replacement for Lamborghini’s mighty Murciélago. Rumored to be called the Jota (the name of a one-off development Lamborghini from 1970), the latest Lamborghini supercar is sure to be the greatest yet from Sant’Agata Bolognese.
The Jota will continue to be powered by a mid-mounted V-12, as it would be seen as sacrilege to use any other engine type in the top Lambo. But, the Jota’s V-12, which will make use of direct injection, will be all-new. The main goal is to improve the V-12’s efficiency, but with greater efficiency quite often comes more power, so don’t be surprised if the new engine makes close to 700 bhp while reducing emissions and improving fuel economy.
The Jota will surely continue with a rear-biased all-wheel-drive system; rumors of a rear-drive-only model appear to be just that—rumors. Also of note, an inside source at Lamborghini told us the Jota will come only with a paddle-shift transmission—a 3-pedal manual with Lamborghini’s classic gated shifter will not even be an option. We were told: “No one buys manuals anymore.”
Even if the Jota’s new V-12 makes less than 700 bhp, overall performance should still improve due to the new car’s lighter weight. Newfound lightness will come via an aluminum/carbon-fiber version of the aluminum space frame from the Audi R8, replacing the current Murciélago’s steel chassis. Other weight savings will be achieved through the use of lightweight body panels; but instead of extensive use of carbon fiber as originally thought, Lamborghini’s partnership with aircraft builder Boeing has apparently led to research into other composites that yield a better cost/benefit ratio than carbon fiber. Lamborghini’s goal going forward is that every new car tips the scales about 200 lb. less than the car it replaces.
We’re told the Jota will be equipped with plastic active aero winglets similar to those showcased on the new Ferrari 458 Italia. Not only will these pieces improve downforce, but they will also decrease clutter, as fewer permanent aero devices are needed.
Lamborghini still has much development work left to do on its new supercar, so don’t expect to see the Jota make an official appearance until the summer of 2011—we don’t yet know the car’s official on-sale date, but it looks like it will be sold as a 2012 model.

mercielago meets gallardo? nothing really looks creative on it...we'll see when the car actually comes out tho.

Steven Bell 01-16-2010 11:42 PM

^^^ Yea, I kinda agree, but it's still pure Lamborghini.

Jota

Leftlane

Lamborghini is hard at work developing a replacement for its aging Murciélago supercar, and our spy photographers have captured its replacement undergoing some shakedown testing. Testing has moved from the frigid weather of Scandinavia to the warmer climates of southern Europe.

Rumored to be called “Jota,” our latest spy shots give a nice feel for the new Lambo’s outrageous profile and its rakish surface development.

The Jota nameplate finds its roots in one of the most storied Lamborghinis to have ever existed, the Miura. The Lamborghini Miura was produced between 1966 and 1972, and represented what many today believe to be the birth of the two-seater, high-performance, mid-engine sports car. In 1970, a Lamborghini test driver named Bob Wallace used a special test mule that was named Lamborghini Miura Jota. The mule was eventually sold, and was tragically later burned to the ground after crashing on the ring road around Brescia.

These spy shots represent the just the second set of spy shots of the successor of the aging Lamborghini Murciélago. The spies indicated that the size looks to be about the same as the Murciélago, but this monster is expected to be much lighter and together with an even more powerful V12 with direct-injection rumored to be creating around 700 horsepower.

If the weight savings are truly achieved, along with the incredible power output of 700 hp, expect this Lamborghini to be truly worthy of exotic supercar status. Reports suggest that the Jota will switch to an aluminum space frame instead of the current steel tub frame. The body will take some influence both from the Reventón and the Estoque, and most body parts will be made of carbon fiber. Roof and doors will likely be made from aluminum. Of course, with 700 horsepower the Jota will feature all-wheel drive, and some rumors are suggesting a new all-wheel drive system being co-developed by Swedish company Haldex and Lamborghini.

Our previous illustration was created prior to Leftlane obtaining spy shots of the Jota in testing, and thus a few changes were necessary to reflect what is known of the Jota. The latest illustration gives the most accurate representation of the final product expected to be released by Lamborghini based on the latest design language coming from the Italian automaker, in addition to what could be seen in the latest round of spy shots.

better...

ThermonMermon 04-11-2010 10:12 AM

^^^ amazing. needs some clean up on the front fender flares to better incorporate the hood mounted cooling vents with the wheels.

all-in-all, it looks a hell of a lot better than the sell-out reventon design. those lambo designers really swallowed their pride with that one.

SpiderX1016 04-17-2010 12:20 AM

I hope it's going to be bigger than that but it's just a drawing anyway lol.

Sarlacc 04-17-2010 12:49 AM

Much more down sloping hood, must be easier to see. Nice sleek design.

ghttf 04-17-2010 04:08 AM

I'd keep my Murcielago

Rockstar21 04-17-2010 09:23 AM

most current lamborghinis look too similar to me.

waiting for them to do something really different with their cars.

Another pic I saw was of the actual concept vehicle itself, and it did look bigger than the drawing shows. The side vents were quite a bit larger too.

TommySalami 04-17-2010 09:16 PM

Hopefully it'll be pronounced "Jota" and not "hota" or something, so all the dumbfuck rappers will pronounce it right, unlike "gallardoh"

Lamborghini teases new supercar before Paris (Murcielago?)

Autoblog

Step-by-step unveilings of new car models can be a painfully slow affair, but when it's something as exciting as a new Lamborghini, chances are that it'll be worth it in the end.

Following the barely-a-teaser shot released three months ago, this new image just released by the Italian factory gives us a glimpse at a section of what looks like the taillight on what is expected to be the company's new Murciélago successor. The Murci has served admirably in its range-topper role, having carried on in numerous variants since 2001.

What you're looking at is the first in a series of six teasers slated to be released by the Bolognese exotic automaker ahead of the car's expected debut at the upcoming Paris Auto Salon. The rest of the shots will undoubtedly follow in a timely fashion, so stay tuned.
