I have seen several in person. One being driven to Blockbuster to pick up a movie. That is almost EXACTLY the reason why this car is a travesty. Lamborghinis are NOT supposed to be driven to do daily errands.

Obviously the guy is well off if he can afford one. Maybe it's no different than me driving a 911 to the store?

i agree with minch. bam margera has a purple gallardo and i see it around west chester all the time. just doesn't look exotic to me. in fact, it looks a little boring and almost cheap looking for the price. the lack of 'lambo doors' is yet another detractor.

Gallardo is Lamborghini's best-selling model ever - - Reuters / November 10, 2005 - - SOurce: Automotive News
FRANKFURT -- The Gallardo high-performance sports car is Lamborghini's best selling model in the brand's history, the company said on Thursday after celebrating the 3,000th Gallardo that rolled off its assembly line.
It eclipsed the previous record of 2,903 Diablos built over the course of 10 years.
"It's a reason for us to be proud that this goal was reached in less than 24 months," Lamborghini Chief Executive Stefan Winkelmann said in a statement.
Built on an aluminum space frame chassis and powered by a 5.0-liter, V-10 engine, the Gallardo is capable of reaching a top speed of 191 mph and can sprint from 0 to 62 mph in just 4.0 seconds.
First founded in 1963 in Italy's Sant' Agata by Ferruccio Lamborghini, the company now belongs to Audi, the premium unit of Volkswagen AG.
Lamborghini also builds the more powerful Murcielago sports car.

mercielago>gallardo
i think the elise is fine like it is; it's a track car. a big go cart. i would never buy one though. it's dinky. lamborghinis IMO are exotic GT's and shouldn't be that tiny.

I like the Murcielago better than the Gallardo, without a doubt. But the reason I like it, is not because it's bigger... the fact that it's bigger has nothing to do with why I like it more. I like it because it looks better - styling-wise, it has more power, and it's just a more pimpin' car than the Gallardo.
And btw - it's not like Lamborghini has never made a car as small as the Gallardo before. The Jalpa, built from 1981-1988, had pretty much the same dimensions. This is just one example from their previous cars. You have to keep in mind what competitor cars they are targeting with the Gallardo... and also - one of the challenges Lamborghini faced with the introduction of the Gallardo was KEEPING the Murcielago as its (obvious) flagship, albeit mainly from a performance standpoint - I recall reading an article on the Gallardo that said Lamborghini had to tune it down a bit in certain areas because it was outperforming the Murc... the Gallardo is not Lambo's flagship. If they had made it the same size as the Murc, they would have been shooting themselves in the foot from a sales standpoint... they could not have offered it at the same pricepoint and they would not have done as well with it as they have.
It's hard to be a critic if you haven't done your research.

just when i was starting to like you.
The jalpa? you pick the red headed stepchild of lamborghini to prove your point? Hardly an example of why I should like smaller lambos.
I don't like small exotics. Period. Your first rather condescending post implied that I am not a true car enthusiast because of that. And now you are telling me I haven't done my research? Where do you get off? I stated my personal preference, nothing more?? Stop being so pompous.
Wow you can use google, im impressed.
My point in comparing the murcielago to the gallardo was to show that size and subsequent weight isn't all that matters with these cars. It's not all about trackability. If it was, there would be alot more heterosexual guys driving mini coopers and elises out there.

I think my main point was, the Gallardo is not Lambo's flagship, and it wasn't designed to be anywhere near it. And, I wasn't implying you were not a "true" car enthusiast. Just saying your view - based on the SIZE of the car - is different than most. Also, I'm not trying to convince you to like the Gallardo. I know I might have come off pompous. I don't mean to sound pompous. If you're just saying, you don't like small Lambos, I guess that's a personal pref.
oh and umm.. wasn't trying to impress anyone with the links...

i actually like the way the gallardo looks more than the mucielago, because it is smaller. I do like the mucielago more cause of the huge engine, and all that, but i think the gallardo looks better.
i kinda like how small it is, you probably wouldn't feel like you're about to hit everything next to you on the freeways, and i'm sure it'd be lighter, and easier to park and everything. it is just hard to dish out that much money for such a small car. we still have that thing in the back of our brains that say if we are going to spend a lot, it should weigh a lot and be really big. haha
so if i had that much money i'd probably buy the gallardo over the murcielago. i just wish it had proper lambo doors, as much as some people hate them. i'd probably take the F430 over either lambo, but that's a different story

If given the chance you all would gladly own one.
Granted, there are "better" supercars, but this one is not bad.
