For $170k, I wouldn't buy a Gallardo.

it has normal doors too

i rather have a f430

True, True, but i'd seldom listen to music with that car, i'd mostly be listening to me ripping through the gears.

Spy Shots: ’06 Lambo Gallardo Roadster - - by Brenda Priddy - - Source: The Car Connection

We think we're the first to bring you pictures of the freshened roadster from Lamborghini. Besides a facelift, we're expecting an updated engine with 522 horsepower, as well as a new push-button electric top. The new Gallardo roadster will be going on sale in 2006.

What would one of these cost compared to a F430 spider?

Diesel Lambo already under testing

Lamborghini could be on the verge of a revolutionary supercar step. The Italian firm is testing a diesel Gallardo, with power coming from the 5.0-litre 309bhp V10 VW engine. According to our sources, Lamborghini engineers are happy with the performance, especially the staggering 553lb ft of torque, but the problem lies with the power delivery, in part due to the narrow rev-range characteristics of a diesel engine.

Lamborghini is not the only company to look into an alternative fuel for a supercar. Toyota has a running prototype for a petrol-electric hybrid supercar, with a view to a launch in 2007.

I have read about diesel rumors at Lambo before, but none that was as specific as the above. It was just a matter of time I guess. We will start seeing diesel and hybrid tech making into the exotic market (Cayenne is the other example).

It'll probably be very hard to get supercar-class top speed from a diesel, but 0-60 should be great.

If the 0-60 are great and the torque is there wouldn't it just be an issue of drag limits and gearing?

Diesel supercar is interesting...

Wonder how the potential buyers will think of it.

500 HP cars are already traction-limited 0-60. How would more torque from a diesel improve this problem?

^ This car is equipped with AWD. There's enough traction on those wide tires.

Lamborghini Gallardo Spyder - - Source: Autoweek

Lamborghini Gallardo Spyder

Yes, another sex machine from Sant'Agata Bolognese. German ownership, an international design staff, and local labor are the secret to producing Lambo's ultra-Italian supercars. Will it sell? Ask the 250 people-which would cover almost the entire supply for 2006-who have already bought one. They get the latest version 5.0-liter 514-hp V10, a much better cloth top than on the Murciélago Roadster, a shorter-ratio gearbox and "Thrust Control" launch control for a 3.95-second dash to 62 mph. Deliveries begin next April.

Don't get me started. They've turned the raging bull into a grazing cow. The Gallardo is a travesty to the name Lamborghini.

I saw a Gallardo on the road and then a few days later I saw a 30 Modena. The Gallardo was a much more "striking" car, it really stood out more.

Lamborghini and travesty don't belong in the same sentence unless one has crashed.

Try that with the F430, the 360 has been out for a very long time, so you've gotten "used" to it, if that's possible.
