It looks like it's going to be one of those cars that sells on the basics, price, looks, and styling. I mean that in a good way because it fully looks as classy as my 3G TL. Hell, it looks good sitting next to a new TL, ES350, and Maxima.

I'd take a hard gander at one if it came with the turbo and AWD, but it ain't happenin'.

If only that body found itself on the Genesis....

Is this what the production models will look like???

LED tail lights? Panoramic Sunroof? LCD screen inside the Gauge cluster? Those DRLS? Dual exhaust on a 2.4 and is that a leather wrapped dash?

Yes, and it will indeed offer all of those features and more. Don't forget the Sonata's two new drivetrains, the 2.0T and 2.4L hybrid, are also going straight into the Optima.

most likely it will start at low to mid 18k for base. and fully loaded turbo won't go over 29k. put a luxury badge on it and you would think it's a 40k car especially with big wheels.

there is leather trimming the periphery of the dash, but it's not wrapping it like other leather wrapped dashes. but still, that's pretty pimp for a non-lux car.

Not feeling the white on the seats though.

great use of the LEDs btw. and amazing interior. Despite the 4-door coupe profile of the Sonata, I agree with what others posted earlier.... I'm liking the Kia family look more than Hyundai's right now. A good thing too, since (pardon me for pulling an msl) but IMO the 2010 Optima looks a little derivative.

^^ Do not like that one

The Sonata looks like it's trying too hard....the Optima is just right on the money.

The Sonato is gonna look dated so fast while the Optima will keep it's modern look a lot longer.

They both are I think.

The Sonata won't age badly, I bet. Just look at the CLS. That's still fresh.

anyway, let's just ignore all the accolades that sonata has received on styling alone by over 35 publications/web reviews and call it a overdesigned piece of crap that will age soon. sounds like someone from this board.

too tough to choose. both looks great. both look like pure sex especially for a non luxury car. both looks like a 35k-40k car!

Fanbois.

...just kidding.

To be honest I think the Sonata and the Genesis are better looking than anything Ferrari has ever produced.....even better than any Pagani too for that matter!

Hyundai is the most awsomeeeeesssst awesome in teh wordlz!!!!

Any thought to the contrary would be utter nonsense!

To each his own you can't dispute matters of taste. It's pointless and most of the time will only result in two people going in circles around each other.

The front of the Optima looks way better than the Sonata, and its much cleaner looking. The line along the fender/bottom windows of the Sonata bothers me a bit, still. The grill/headlights just don't look that good IMO. The profile of the Sonata is really nice though. The Optima has a really funky rear window/roof/quarter panel area though.... nothing flows, and it also makes the car look bulky in the back. It's different

and of course these cars will look much more expensive when they've got expensive aftermarket wheels on them and they're lowered. In factory form the Optima definitely looks more expensive than it really is. But the Sonata, while its styling is pretty different, looks like anything but a $40k car

Once the factory Optima comes out, the base model will look like anything but a $30k car. The wheels can make the biggest difference. And Gen Coupe, best looking car under $25k? that's the funniest thing I've heard all day, thanks.

The CLS is classy. While the Sonata version is an overwrought copy of the CLS design. My money is on the CLS not aging as bad as the Sonata.

Gen coupe is pure sex. nothing comes close to Gen coupe IMO and that includes Mustang. I just prefer import look over american muscle.

anyway, the white one i posted in previous page is a factory version. it still look great even with smaller wheel.

I like the new Optima alot (minus those hideous wheels). The Sonata looks awesome as well, certainly better than anything HOnda is making at the moment. Still, I get the feeling there is a new msl lurking here in Automotive News...

Another car to add to the "look at" list.

Who is the parent company....Hyundai or Kia?

i'm on a market for a midsize sedan next year, and my wife wants sonata over this.

many of her friends prefer sonata too. maybe optima looks too masculine? not sure..

anyway, Kia is just testing the water. these prices aren't final. but 18.5k for 2.4GDI with a manual sounds very very tempting. imagine that price with a typical kia rebates and dealer discounts. we are looking at 17k OTD price for a 200hp car.

not sure which one i like better when it comes to sonata vs optima

oh and they should drop the name optima
as gay as K5 (or K7 for VG) would be, optima sounds very... cheap? lol

nonetheless, i like where korean makers are going with their recent models

that could be why they are going with K5 in US market over K7
K7 (Genesis competitor) would prolly be looking at high 30s for fully loaded

still.. the reliability and safety need to be tested, but from the looks of the car, both interior and exterior is good
