Infiniti: QX80 News
Believe it or not, these QX56 test utes are running around in far less camouflage their sibling, Nissan’s Pathfinder Armada, was at this point of the pre-introduction stage. And that small amount of missing fabric allows us to see many of the changes that will take the big and powerful Nissan and change it into the luxury Infiniti, challenging a string of large and high-dollar SUVs, including the Cadillac Escalade, Lincoln’s Navigator and the Lexus GX470.
Although the body shell remains the same as the Nissan Pathfinder Armada, the Infiniti has unique front and rear fenders and lights, and the most aggressive Infiniti grille to date. Even the license-plate location has changed. The camouflage implies changes on the sides as well, and the Infiniti name ensures luxury amenities throughout.
The QX56 will be built in Canton, Miss., along side the new Titan and Pathfinder Armada, and will be powered by Nissan’s 300-horsepower 5.6-liter V-8. We believe the QX56 will be available in the first quarter of 2004 as an early 2005 model.

I still think that the last gen Q45 was a classy car. The simple and elegant lines of the interior and exterior remind my of a Jaguar....in an Infiniti sort of way.
Oh and my thoughts on the Qx56? Well it's shape doesn't scream "luxury," more like "Xterra." And why not call it the QX4?

I used to love the current QX4. This one is gonna be even larger than the current one. Lets hope they don't screw it up.

As a reminder this was the preview
Everyone in the world except Infiniti will acknowledge the soon to be existence of the QX56. When we approached Infiniti to comment on our sketch, they said "What's a QX56? We haven't announced a name yet for our full size SUV." The only thing they'll admit to is that there is a full size SUV landing next spring to Infiniti showrooms. And following Infiniti's standard naming convention, the numbers match the engine displacement.
It's not too hard to imagine the new QX56 will be very mechanically similar to its Nissan Pathfinder Armada cousin with a 5.6L V-8 outputting over 300 horses, and a 5 speed automatic transmission. The Armada will already have a host of luxury features as options and we'll bet that the QX56 will have most of them standard. The QX56 may also have some exclusive features such as power folding rear seats, rear hatch, and maybe even side steps. We expect the QX56 to feature styling very similar to the Armada -perhaps too similar for some. The new Infiniti SUV will likely sport a huge grille to give it street cred and make it well suited for MTV hip hop "bling-bling" music videos. Pricing? We expect it to compete with other steel behemoths like the Lincoln Navigator, so get ready to pony up fifty-g's plus! Stay tuned for more information as our sources trickle down info to us!

so you guys are saying that the land cruiser and lx470 look nothing alike?
the qx56 probably differentiates itself more from the armada than the landcruiser/lx, and the lx sells.

UGLY !!!
What’s with the big bend in the roof?
It looks like a Mini-Van ran into the back of a pickup truck.
And it’s got that typical Uglified Nissan/Infinity Interior that they are sticking in everything.
Nice 80’s BOOM-BOX console.

Nothing wrong with this truck.

i dunno, i find it a little hard to believe that these aren't photoshops, anyone could put together the exterior based on what infiniti has on their site
the interior looks like crap, the q45 may not be the best looking car but it has quality materials throughout the inside of the car. this interior shown is something that was acceptable in 1998 for a fullsize luxury suv, not today, even the navigator has a different interior than the expedition now. this thing is the same exact thing as the armada with a couple pieces of wood added. we'll know shortly but i can't see this company that now has money trying to pass this interior off as a 55k luxury suv bassed off what they put in the fx45 for 45k.

The specs for the Nissan Titan are:
Base Engine Size: 5.6 liters
Base Engine Type: V8
Horsepower: 305 hp
Max Horsepower: 4900 rpm !WOW!
Torque: 385 ft-lbs.
Max Torque: 3600 rpm
C&D states:
Buried below every Titan’s surprisingly short hood is a mighty wangdoodle of an all-alloy 32-valve V-8, built in Decherd, Tennessee, of all places. It produces 305 horses at 4900 rpm. That tops the Toyota Tundra’s multivalve V-8 by 65 horsepower. Truck buyers have historically pooh-poohed twin-cammers for their peakiness. Nissan insists this one isn’t, producing 90 percent of its torque below 2500 rpm. But it’s still a gentleman at step-off. Throttle tip-in is far gentler than in two previous preproduction Titans we sampled; now it’s refined, subtle, never hot-roddish. The power builds rapidly and smoothly, with a throaty V-8 whoop that will mesmerize Pro Stock fans. Around town, it feels a little like the Northstar V-8 in Caddy’s SRX. Which isn’t a bad thing to feel like. The real fun begins at 4000 rpm—yeah, a little high—and from there to the automatic-shifting redline (5800 rpm), the Titan is a Titan rocket. Hold your foot flat and, at each upshift, revs return smartly to 4000 rpm, ready again to make the most of that meaty third of the band. It means the Titan is a champ at passing slower machinery on back roads. Notice its 3.5-second 30-to-50-mph top-gear time—only 0.1 second behind the 345-horse hot-rod Silverado SS.
In fact, our 5030-pound Titan clobbered 60 mph in 6.9 seconds. That’s 0.9 second quicker than either a Dodge Ram 2500 Quad Cab with a 345-horse Hemi or a GMC Sierra Denali with a 325-hp, 6.0-liter Vortec V-8—two of our favorite trucks. It’s odd to find yourself at the helm of a full-size pickup with such squeeze-and-squirt prowess. Heck, the Titan rolls through the quarter-mile at the same velocity as a Mercury Marauder, and it’s a 10th quicker.
Curb weight: 5030 lb
ACCELERATION (Seconds)
Zero to 30 mph: 2.4
40 mph: 3.6

90 mph: 15.1
100 mph: 19.6
110 mph: 28.3
Street start, 5–60 mph 7.1
Top-gear acceleration, 30–50 mph: 3.5
50–70 mph: 4.7
Standing 1/4-mile: 15.4 sec @ 91 mph
Top speed (governor limited): 114 mph
BRAKING
70–0 mph @ impending lockup: 193 ft
HANDLING
Roadholding, 300-ft-dia skidpad: 0.71 g
Understeer: minimal moderate excessive
ESTIMATED FUEL ECONOMY
EPA city driving: 15 mpg
EPA highway driving: 19 mpg
C/D-observed: 15 mpg
DRIVETRAIN
Transmission: 5-speed automatic
Final-drive ratio: 3.36:1
Gear ... Ratio ... Mph/1000 rpm ... Max. test speed
I ... 3.83 ... 7.1 ... 43 mph (6100 rpm)
II ... 2.37 ... 11.4 ... 70 mph (6100 rpm)
III ... 1.52 ... 17.8 ... 109 mph (6100 rpm)
IV ... 1.00 ... 27.0 ... 114 mph (4200 rpm)
V ... 0.83 ... 32.4 ... 114 mph (3500 rpm)
-------------------------------
Holy Shit these trucks are getting fast! Imagine what a HOT version of the Titan will run. High 5s? With the Z? What is going on with these HP wars? I feel underpowered at this point.

Wow, the bling blingers have something else now to put 24s on.
I cannot believe that interior for 50k. It reminds me of an American Escalade EXT. Big grill, hideous interior. I am sure it will sell in droves though. Can't blame Infiniti for attacking this market.

BTW, a friend of mine who is a Clublexus member was at a consumer group forum for this SUV about 6 months ago. He said so people wouldn't automatically dismiss and sh!t on it, they put LEXUS badges on it. He said it was huge and ungainly just like those pics.

So did the QX4
the older Maximas had nice interior, I don't really like the new max too much.
G35c's interior is oK.
FX interior's nice as well.
I30-I35 interior's nice.
SpecV's interior's pretty nice for a car that's under 20k.
Zs also ok
please open ur eyes and take a look.
and that interior in the QX56 looks nice in the armada and Titan, just not nice in an infiniti, IMO

Though I hear Toyota is gonna drop the Landcruiser next time around and make a Lexus version of the Sequioa. Puke.
