Infiniti planning a BMW 1-Series rival

I don't think it's fugly... when I saw one from the front... I didn't even know it was a 1 series... I thought it was a 3
The only part of the car that I don't care for is the sharp drop in the back (roof). Otherwise I don't think it's bad at all... (and keep in mind... I'm all pro Infiniti). I mean... I think this AC Schnitzer 1 series looks pretty tight...

What do you mean? You think a G37 cannot beat this car in every catergory?
Besides, the Supra was no more popular nor special than the FD3S, Z32 and GTO (3000GT) during its production run. (It wasnt until The Fast and the Furious a decade later that it reached another level.)

The Infiniti G37 is small enough. Go try the back seat. If it's any smaller, it might as well be the Z.
Frankly Infiniti has some nice sporting machines but the packages haven't all been that great. Look at the EX - function wise it's terrible.
To compete with BMW, Infiniti will have to under cut the price significantly in a smaller platform. I don't think they can pull it off with something as exciting.
By the way, Infiniti follows BMW all over the place and in the long run it's not going to be successful doing that.

What Infiniti needs to do is come up with a lightweight RWD offering to counter the 1-series... The 128i weighs in @ 3252lbs so something closer to 3000bs would rock

Ghosn has hinted before about reviving the old Datsun name with a lineup of cheap lightweight rwd vehicles before...

I still would rock an Infiniti over a Lexus or Acura now.

dang, exciting.
And how the hell would an infiniti competitor with the 3.7 engine to the 1series not be a fucking blast to drive?
Hell, they could release a coupe to compete w/bmw, and a 5 dr. hatch to compete with
Audi both on the same platform...

well more engine choices with Infiniti cars the more broader range of customers would buy an Infiniti. Seriously, if the G20 was still around with the 4 cylinder that made 210 hp I would've bought that instead of a TSX.

That's exactly what he did. It was the right call at the time, too. I'm not opposed to a turbo-four banger, but the Infiniti should definitely be RWD, IMO.

Moko was referencing the Primera based G20 NOT the FM based G35....as in newer version of the G20 (which likely would not be a 'G' at all, in order to avoid any confusion with the current G) as an alternative to the TSX:
That said, the QR25DE has had its share of problems and from my personal experience is nowhere near as refined as the K-series. (I wont even go into how problematic the QR has been for Nissan.) IMHO, when it comes to V6 motors, VQ > J-series...but when it comes to NA 4 cylinders, K>>QR and just about every other NA inline 4 on the market.
