Ya I mostly agree - but I think the mpg will be pretty good considering the output (which is rumored at what now? 325?). Consider the IS350 is rated 20/28, but gets 16-21 pretty rgularly (which is about the same as the current G). I expect this one will be rated 21/27 or so (maybe a bit higher) and should pull 18-23. Just a guess.

 

i like it! the interior is a lot better but i dunno if it's any better than the current tl. i can see myself being interested in this for my next car.

 

Maybe if it's another color we'd appreciate it more

Looks pretty good. After seeing the IS in person a few times, I've really lost interest in the new design of the car, glad there is an alternative now from Infiniti.

 

The IS just doesn't look good in person. Not at all.

it looks 10 times better in the infiniti site. All their pictures capture the fine lines of the car which imo is really nice. I really like it more than an IS or 3

That's what I thought. I love the profile shot that shows the character line having a sharp, but smooth drop near the tail of the car. And the shape really looks good in those photos. Also, the interior looks really high quality in those shots. I love the Aluminum center stack, now.

I think the NAV graphics are sweet, hopefully it'll make it to the production car.

 

I'm sure they will. This is the production car, so if those graphics are imposed on there some kind of way, instead of being an example of what can be found in the car's navi, that would be f*ucked up.

 

Only reason I said that before was because, when they had the Infiniti M launch pics the NAV had super cool graphics, but the production car just got the regular graphics which I was a little disappointed.

 

I like it a lot! I love the fact that Infiniti chose to evolve the current beautiful style of the G35, rather than to re-invent it. All the upscale European brands do that too, just to develop an unmistakable corporate identity and image. The Japanese car makers are traditionally weak in that, so I am very happy that Infiniti is doing it!

I don't like the M sedans' styling, but this one is HOT!

My goodness, maybe my next car will be an Infiniti but not an Acura!? Ouch....

Darn.., I'm undecided whether to get the 2nd gen MD-X or the G35

 

Well I still have my reservations for sure. The fact that they're using the same old 5AT kind of wigs me out a little and I am definitely on pins and needles to hear about this new engine (specifically output, torque curve, and mpg), and of course I will have to drive one before I decide if I love it or not. In terms of appearance, though - I do admit now that I've seen some better pictures of it I am more impressed than I was. I still think that it may be a little *too* reminiscent of the current G (for the purposes of distinguishing the re-deisgn to a public who doesn't know better), and I definitely want to see dimensions, but ya... it's not so bad I guess.

 

if i were in the market, i'd make a move toward it too. Acura is gone for dead if they don't move fast; Lexus, BMW, and MB have already solidified themselves. And although the TL sells well, this G35 will attract many new buyers.

I'm with you 100%. For starters, I'm extremely pissed about the lack of a 6SP. Also, the engine thing niggles me, because it's a fact that Infiniti trademarked the G37,M37,and FX37 names. That means, down the line, they will have an upgrade. I woulen't be suprised if the names were used a few year from now, for this new gen G's midcycle refresh. Still, I wish I hadn't have known. Ignorance is bliss, in a case like this.

 

Meh, anything that threatens their precious Lexus’ brand they get their panties in a bunch, especially 1sicklex.

 

IMO I don't think the TL will have a problem with all these new cars popping up. It still remains the best luxury car value in it's class and probably will, while others keep moving up in price. It's still one helluva car for ~$35K.

He's calling Infiniti childish for having high peak power.

And it's mature for Lexus to have a sub compact sedan pumping out 300+ hp....

 

he also said that the g35 is too big because its similar in size to the GS. What a loser. And he also predicts that this car wont sell well after a year. I remember him saying that about the M and of course hes wrong

 

These are the changes I was looking for, glad Infiniti listened . Too bad no direct injection due to CR increase, other than that everything looks great and I'm sure performance going to be impressive. Couple key points - '07 is almost 1 inch wider with 69.8" vs. 69" before and this is a very strong point, it also sits lower with at 52.7" height vs. 57.7" before. Other things I like, no more orange instrument panel and glad seats adjustment installed on the side now.

When my lease is up next year with '04 sedan, I will strongly consider one.
