Bluetooth info farther down. I Just had sneak peak and put deposit down on Anthracite with Camel Interior and Navi!!! I was the first to order. They are going to trickle in one at a time.

1. Leather is thick and luxurious, deeply padded on ceiling and dash.
2. Side door compartments on both front doors tilt out.Very cool.
3.Middle compartment seems much deeper, and both middle compartment doors close tightly and well. much less flimsy than older model. Change holder integrated
4. Driver's door stays open, and doesn't bang my leg anymore
5. Two small compartments under radio/navi , one above the other that open and close at slight touch. Great for small items.
6.Handier vanity lights, just touch the light itself to turn on and off
7. Interior light is set much farther back, directly over rear passengers. very functional
8. Rear Head rests are movable up and down
9.CUP HOLDERS are SOOOOOOO much more functional. Set deep in front, and larger, to finally accomodate Medium iced coffee at Dunkin Donuts, without having to move it each time someone else needs to pick up their drink.
10. Rear seat cupholder is accessed by push button built into front of rear arm rest. much easier to access from front seat.
11. Great design for dual climate control buttons. on both sides of Radio/navigation screen.
12. You can now change between AM and FM on the steering wheel. YAY
13. Radio controls vastly easier to reach on dash.
14. Same with climate
15. Unusually curvered design of glove compartment very attractive.
16. and , of course, the lights for all the controls , ie spedometer etc are wonderfully easy to read, and really sharp. Blue is bright and crisp.

I could go on and on. I'm a girl, so I'm more interested in the functionality, than the perfomance. And I'm sure it rides like a dream. First model just arrived in Walpole, MA. Clair Acura dealer today in silver. I was the first to place an order. Will get mine mid Oct or later.

IMPORTANT regarding BlueTooth
The only phones currently known to be compatible are:
Nokia 3650 and 6310I
Sony Ericson S55, T610 and T28I
Seimans S56

Do not buy a Motorola 270c on ebay. It won't work with car.
If you are a Verizon wireless customer, you are out of luck. They do not have anthing currently that will work. They say not till mid next year. Sony/Ericson pulled the plug on what they were designing. If you want to voice your displeasure, call Rose Garavaglia in the NJ VZ office. She is marketing person who can tell you the status. 908-607-8014.

 

I'll be bummed if my expensive Sony Ericsson P800 doesn't work. It does everything but clean the dishes.

Did you notice if the entire seat was leather, or are the sides and back vinyl ala TSX?

I honestly didn't notice what was real, and what was not. The seats are perferated. Very nice change. It just looks and feels far more sumptuous than mine. And when I touched the ceiling and the dash, they were very plump.

Regarding Blue tooth., you are not going to be able to use your new phone, probably. I have a new LG that is quite versatile, and expensive,.....and useless.

I was all over it. inside and out. I got the feeling if I'd waited till Thursday, that I could have driven it. It's right there, inside the showroom. The guy was putting a plate on the tail while I was there. They have a book in which they'll look up date car is being produced, and approx date of delivery. I was interested in the Anthracite or Black with camel / navi. They only had one of each listed as being delivered to them. Anthracite mid Oct, and black early Nov. I'd be curious to hear what you all think of my choice. Parchment and Camel are close. They have parchment in the TSX, but it looks to be a cross between the TL's parchment and the camel. It looked great in Black TSX. But, the 2003 TL's parchment seems to have more greyish tone , and so I thought the camel would be warmer. Sight unseen, I'm hoping Anthracite/camel will be a rich combination.

yes it does. and also, a small hole where you will put your cable to connect bluetooth to the car. Then, you just pop your phone in, and that's it. I thought I'd read that there would be a keypad for dialing phone numbers on the steering wheel, but there is no keypad. so, the dealer and I speculated that you will just speak the numbers out, and the car will dial.....except for us VZ users boo hoo. What I forgot to ask is if there will be a connection to hook up my MP3 player directly. the BMW 3 2004 has one now. Currently I have to stick an adapter into the cassette player, attach that, AND the power pack in, in order to listen to my player. anyone know?

I was answering you, sorry. Yes, there is some kind of power connection in the console and in the traditional place used in past for cigarette lighter. Just like the old TLs. So you have to power connections. But much improved design in the lighter space. it isn't inside the little space organizer, like the old TL.

and, also inside the console, there is a hole in the base, which you can plug your phone into. It is the bluetooth connection. The hole is open and empty now, but I think dealer explained that you will open floor of compartment, plug in cord to car, under the console base, thread the cord up to the hole, and close the cosole base. Thus leaving a connector for you to plug your phone in..... the other end being connected to your car. Don't really know what the hell I'm talking about, cause bluetooth is wireless. but......i know he pointed out the hole and explained about the chord and even opened up the bottom of the console to show me.

 

Correct. You press the phone voice recognition button on the steering wheel, and simply say 'dial 4 0 8 5 5 5 1 2 1 2'.

Alternatively you can save up to 50 names and numbers and 'voice tags' so that you can just say 'dial ferg'.

finally, be aware that there are two voice recognition activation buttons. one for your bluetooth phone at the front of your steering wheel, one for the nav system an inch or so behind it.

 

The last gen TL did not come with a lighter either. That is why my car still smells showroom new.
