Holy hot shit, Hyundai' RWD coupe spy photos

http://www.autoblog.com/2007/05/10/s...ais-rwd-coupe/

Heavily camoflouged, but I like the overall shape very much. Notice the longitudinally mounted turbo I-4 engine with a stick with plenty more room in the engine bay to accommodate a bigger engine.

I love the interior, too. I hope this car becomes an affordable reality soon.

Ah... V8, RWD, and that looks like a MT stick shift... Damn, Hyundai will have a V8 AND a RWD coupe before Acura does...

Acura should be ashamed of itself... bad Acura... No cookie for you...

I think this will actually be a bigger hit against the American manufacturers than the JP.

It certainly well could be, but we know of no hard evidence that Hyundai will actually move the Tib upmarket by transferring the name to this RWD coupe. In fact, we don't think it's a smart idea at all, as the Tiburon name doesn't have the upmarket cachet to go up against the likes of other entry-level luxury sport coupes like the Infiniti G37 and BMW 335i coupe (Wow, did we just say that?). Plus, we doubt Hyundai's myopic desire to one day be a full-line automaker would allow it to abandon the front-wheel drive coupe segment altogether.
For the "Tib" to go from a weak Civic coupe competitor to G37/E92 fighter is HUGE. After reading this and seeing the Genesis at the NYIAS, I am fast becoming impressed with Hyundai.

Wow...impressive. I considered getting a Tiburon but decided against it for various reasons, but RWD and a possible V8 would make this thing a sure bet to be on my next list of possible cars.

I'm sure this will effect Mustang sales... and since Ford sold about 200,000 mustangs in 2005, I'm sure that sales figyure helped push Hyundai into developing a rwd v8 coupe.

People say that the coupe market if is fickle... and it sure is if you put out crap (like a coupe with bad auto trannies for instance), but if you make something decent and price it right, you can corner the coupe market...

<--- has been looking at Mustangs lately since there's a 1K rebate...

I just hope Hyundai can start getting more power and better MPG. A 3.8L V6 with 260HP doesn't quite cut it anymore, although its more than enough for most.

Im sure the developers at Acura HQ are in disbelief that Hyundai has reached these milestones light years ahead of Acura.

Hyundai is looking more appealing everyday considering the value (especially now that they seem to have some cool upcoming cars)

I don't think they see it that way...

they probalby see it as "YES!!! One less FWD competitor to deal with!"

Good looking car. The interior definitely looks like a lower model Tibby, but still nice. I can't wait to see what Hyundai really has up their sleeve with the whole BH platform.

if they do use tau v8, it's gonna be 340-350hp!

however

"According to a member on TheCarLounge.net message boards, the next Tiburon will not be getting a V8, but rather a 2.0 L turbo four cylinder with 230 hp, and the 3.8L V6 with approximately 300 HP."

interior layout is very 300zxish. i like it.

keep it under 20k for the base RWD, and it will be a smash hit. hope they use that concept's front.

That car could be anything though...how do they even know it's a Hyundai?? The only clue is that it's in a port somewhere with a trailer that has some sort of Asian writing on it. And even then that's not really much proof.

It's so fun to watch Hyundai progress as an auto company. People who have never taken notice before are constantly surprised

That interior has a number of Honda cues: NSX center dash slope, RL-like toggle, Accord style center console and the steering wheel/stick reminds me of the Civic.
