Hyundai: Genesis News

hail to the victors
the new tibby and this RWD v8 would attract people like myself and anybody who wants the power and comfort for less. hyundai has a competitive vehicle top to bottom and smart people would choose hyundai over many brands. for me i would get sonata v6 over civic. that's just me. and i would definitely take santa fe over CRV anytime anyday. hyundai's image is not that bad anymore. only snobs like us still bash hyundai. i would say hyundai's image is on par with many american brands if not better.
go test drive veracruz. honestly, i thought it was much much better than my last gen MDX. it felt quicker and much quieter and it had a better interior than my MDX.

it beat honda and toyota as well.

Going back on topic -- I think Hyundai has a lot to offer consumers. It has to shake that image of inferiority first. And I don't think raising the price substantially is a way to do it. Get people in the door ... have them spread word of mouth ... win more of those JD Power awards ... then the image will change.
I mean ... some are already seeing the quality that's in the car. My friend who works for a parts supplier for Honda and regularly rents competitors cars to 'disassemble' them (ie reverse engineer) ... he can see the big difference in Hyundai manufacturing in the past 5 years. (If that means anything to the average joe, that is ... )

people may cross shop prices though.
i know a guy that bought the rl instead of an is. yea they're different sizes but close enough in price.
depends on what you want. whether it's a certain size or what you can get for a certain car.
another instance:
a family friend wanted to buy a car at $20,000 max. they ultimately filtered down to a loaded sonata or loaded civic. they decided on the sonata because at the same price, they wanted a larger car.

The One Upmanship Game: Hyundai Genesis V8 Rumored to Get 380 hp
http://www.motivemagazine.com/pub/ne...t_380_hp.shtml
This is some sick power!
This is some sick power!
According to a recent post on HyundaiExchange.com, Hyundai's R&D head Hyun-Soon Lee recently said in a speech to a group of South Korean business executives that the 4.6L "Tau" V8 being used in the upcoming Genesis sedan would be tuned to generate 380 horsepower.
The poster, an internal mole known only as "Delphi", has been accurate with other news regarding Hyundai and Kia, to the point that Hyundai North America employees have asked around to determine his identity. He reported last week that the new Kia SUV would be called "Mojave" and - sure enough - two days later the new registration list came out and it was on there.
If Genesis is starting to sound suspiciously like the Lexus LS400, circa 1989, it's not mere coincidence. Hyundai's so much as stated that Genesis aims to be LS-level lux for the price of a loaded 300C.

From Leftlanenews...
Codenamed BHL, Hyundai has begun testing of a long-wheel-base luxury sedan based on the upcoming and much anticipated rear-wheel-drive Genesis/i50. Sources are referring to this luxury sedan as the i70, but the name is not yet confirmed.
It's unclear if the car will be marketed as a distinct model from the Genesis/i50 or if it will be sold as a LWB (long-wheel-base) variant. The size of the car is also a bit of a mystery. The Genesis is thought to be the size of a BMW 5-Series or Mercedes E-Class, so it's fair to assume this model will lie somewhere between those dimensions and the BMW 7-Series or Mercedes S-Class.
Sources say it will be offered as a V8 model only and will be even more prestigious than the Genesis. As Hyundai is using Cadillac and Lexus as benchmarks, expect high-tech gizmos, as well as many other luxury amenities.
The i70 / BHL should arrive in dealerships about a year after the Genesis, but that’s not all: the BH rear-drive platform may also spawn a Coupe/Cabrio entry for the 2010 model year.

Hyundai: Genesis Coupe news **2013 Revealed (page 41)**
From Leftlanenews...
Hyundai today released two teaser sketches of its forthcoming Genesis Coupe, which will arrive some time after the Genesis/i50 sedan — likely as a 2010 model.
Concept Genesis Coupe will make its world debut at the 2007 Los Angeles International Auto Show on Wednesday November 14th, the Korean automaker said. "Concept Genesis Coupe hints at design direction for a future rear-wheel drive sports coupe from Hyundai," a press release read.
The car will be based on Hyundai's BH rear-wheel-drive platform.

Granted it's a very "overdone" concept rendering, but looks like Hyundai is gonna make the automotive industry peeps jaws drop.

^ Based upon those sketches ... is it me or are car manufacturers coming closer together in car design? I see G37 concept all over it (ie panoramic moonroof, long hood, short trunk, "big ass" ...)
However, if powered by a V8 ...

Lets just hope they didn't take a page out of Honda/Acura's book and have the final version look nothing like the rendering.
So is this the next Tiburon or a larger coupe. Isn't the Tibby going RWD as well?

Anyone notice the BMW rims...?

That looks more like a refreshed Hyundai Azera that's assimilating the Hyundai look seen in the newer products, like the Veracruz-ish taillights that'll hopefully replace the 7th gen Honda Accord-ish taillights on the current Azera.

I doubt that is the new Azera; look at the placement of the front axle, it seems as though the engine is mounted behind the axle and there doesn't seem to be a huge front bumper overhang. (Perhaps a RWD vehicle?)
Can't say it's a RWD vehicle without more shots, but I'd argue that it definitely doesnt have the stance of an Azera.

We've known for a few years now that Hyundai can build a decent-looking car. But the leap from 'decent-looking' to 'give me one of those, I don't care if it's got a Hyundai badge on the front' is a substantial one, and this might be the car to make it.
This is Hyundai's Genesis Coupe concept, revealed today at the LA Show and previewing a two-plus-two-seater that could reach the road in early 2009.
And we like it. OK, that slashed bonnet might be a bit over-fussy, but overall the Genesis a nicely sorted design. We might size up those 20-inch rims just a touch, though.
It's much more than just an updated version of the current Coupe S3, too. The Genesis will feature a new 3.8-litre V6 - developing, says Hyundai, over 300bhp - driving (ready for this?) the rear wheels. Through a limited-slip diff.
Which means - in theory at least - that it should be a laugh to drive. Hyundai says the Genesis will be the most affordable 300-plus car on the market, and reckons it should hit 60mph in under six seconds.
Predictably, there'll be a few more sedate engine variants available when the Genesis reaches the US market in 2009. Hyundai's top brass say no decision has been reached on whether the car will come to the UK, but we reckon they're just being coy.
