Considering Volvo can barely sell any of its wagons (even the lifted ones), I doubt Genesis can move even 100 G70 wagons in an entire year here in the US. And it's not for lack of inventory...dealerships have tons of V60 wagons and they're being heavily heavily discounted to move them, yet even in the best of times they'd sell a little over 100 a month. Compared to almost 3000 XC60 crossovers per month.

Where are these heavily discounted wagons? A search on cars.com doesn't show many discounts on the non-cross country variants.

Manufacturer incentives. Last month, they offered $2000 cash allowance on the V60, $2000 loyalty bonus, $2000 first responder/health care bonus, $2000 Costco member discount, and $1000 affiliate discount. This month, it's $3500 cash allowance, $3000 loyalty, and $1000 affiliate. All this is on top of the existing discounts you can negotiate, which should be no higher than invoice pricing.

The majority of people aren't getting loyalty benefits on Volvos though right? So that one is out. First responder/healthcare is out for most people. All that remains is cash allowance and the costco thing which is $4500? That's a decent chunk of change but not game changing.

Can get a bigger discount on a X3M.

Without the incentives you can get around $4K off sticker. Tack on the incentives (affiliate is really easy to get), you're looking at almost $10K off a $40K car. Can you get 25% off on an X3M? If so, sign me up for one .

The incentives and deals aren't advertised on cars.com or autotrader. It's not just Volvo either; BMW is the same way (and BMW has similar incentives in name as well).

Volvo has pretty good lease incentives at the moment though - around $10k off on the V60 T8.

BMW has a $3500 lease credit on the X3MC. With similar DAS amounts, the Volvo is around $200 less per month (for a lease).

If purchasing, the BMW does have the better deal. $5k off incentive plus .9% up to 60 months, and you can stack.

Hyundai released some photos of the facelift. Honestly, it looks much better than what I was expecting based on the camo spyshots

Love the way this looks. Kinda surprised how the older vehicle handles the new design language so well. This and the G80 are serious contenders in replacing my TLX, that is when things start looking normal again and I need a car to go places and stuff. If only the G70 had the nicer interior from the new G80. Either way, this looks way more exciting than the new TLX.

I do believe that is correct, sadly.

Unrelated, but we were driving back from our daughter's Dr appt yesterday & were behind a 570S. My wife asked "it's a stick, right?" When told, no, she replied with "what's the point, then?" this lady.

Figures. I'm sure the 6MT in these cars was a marketing afterthought for launch anyway.

Ugly, and it's 2020 and there's no reason for amber DRLs.

I like it more than the current one... the current one is way too busy in the front.. if you compare the old one and the new one side by side. the new one looks more upscale...

But that doesnt mean i like the car.. i just like it more than the old one

Amber DRLs is a new Kia/Hyundai/Genesis design feature. I like it more than the standard issue white ones.

The amber doesn't bother me & I think looks good on the higher trim Telluride.

Holding judgement on the refreshed G70. Not a huge fan from the photos, but may like better in person.

Though, now, I'd be more apt to look at the G80 over the G70.

Are they always amber? On the GV80 which has the same style of headlights, they're white, but turn amber when flashing (1:50 into the video)

I think it depends on trim level.
Lower trims LX/S are white & higher trim EX/SX is amber.

i didnt like it initially... but it has grown on me.. especially when watching a video vs looking at a picture...

I just hope Hyundai get the pricing right, so they can steal a shit load of sales from BMW...

Then maybe BMW will stop with the ugliness and price hike ....

Hahaha that's tough man.

It's hard to topple BMW when it comes to sales figures even when you have a good car. Just look at the 2019 sales figures for the 3 series segment:

ES 51,336 +5.9%
Class 49,153 -18.6%
3series 47,827 +7.3%
TLX 26,548 -12.9%
A4 26,435 -24%
Q50 25,987 -25.2%
MKZ 17,725 -10.7%
IS 14,920 -34.9%
G70 11,901
LaCrosse 7,241 -53.4%
ATS 1,134 -89.6%

It's funny how the Lexus ES is actually the best selling...lol.

I don't think we'll see huge sales numbers at least in this generation of G70 no matter how competitive it is. It won't be until they're a more common household name for that to happen. The upcoming SUVs should help with that, but they also need to have their own standalone dealerships. They really screwed the pooch with their dealer network.

This is the key mistake they've made. I don't want to go into a showroom where my $80k Genny G90 is parked next to a $20k Hyundai Accident.

While this typically doesn't bother me, every Hyundai/Kia dealership I've been in has given me a buy here/pay here vibe. This is definitely something they need to address to really capture the Lexus/BMW/Merc crowd.

The Kia dealer north of us, is very rural feeling, almost like you say, buy here/pay here. Formerly was a Mitsu dealer, IIRC. The next closest, to the south of us is a bit better, but only in that their building is a bit nicer, still doesn't have a premium, or even mainline feel to it.
The 3 Hyundai dealers closest to us have a more 'normal' feel to them, about equivalent to the average Honda/Chevrolet type dealer feel.

Yup, exactly. It's the issue you get when you try and sell a luxury brand next to a budget brand. No other automakers do it.

That's one aspect of Genesis that truly bothers me. Seriously considering a Genesis as my next vehicle, but all the Hyundai dealerships I've seen are considerably worse than a typical Honda/Toyota dealership. And the valet service seems cool, but I definitely don't want some random service dude driving my 50k+ vehicle across town and parking it in some crowded Hyundai lot. I want someone that will handle my vehicle with great care.

I feel like Hyundai/Kia have made a huge leap in quality and desirability over the last 10 years, but a lot of their original clientele seems the same. When your dealing with a supposed luxury brand, you don't want to be in the same room as some dude trying to figure out if they can afford the monthly payments on an Accent. You don't see that at your typical Honda/Toyota dealer let alone the lux brands. I don't see much of a difference between my Acura and Honda dealership visits to be honest and I don't mind that much. Though, all the Lexus dealers I've been to are an obvious class above the mainstream brands, which is definitely a nice welcome when you're spending big money.

The level of customer service and experience, even the atmosphere are different.... when you have the same dealership and same people selling Hyundai and Genesis.... you will not get that "experience".
At the end you will feel like you are buying a Very very expensive Hyundai, instead of a reasonably priced Genesis...

Yup.

If they want to be serious about this stuff, they need to differentiate themselves from Hyundai/Kia.

Even Acura knows that they cannot sell the Acura inside a Honda dealership...

Even tho... the dealership experience and atmosphere are pretty much the same... at least here in So Cal

The ES (and a few others) only belong in the segment due to pricing.

The ES has managed to survive and thrive while other similar models (full size FWD/transverse) - XTS, MKS/Continental and RLX have not because the ES brings an even larger VALUE play; a full size interior for the price of a compact, whereas the XTS, etc. we're priced alongside the midsizers like the 5 Series.

The sharper, more distinctive sheet-metal and the upgrade of the base engine to the 2.5T should improve sales a bit, but likely won't be anything major as the biggest shortcoming (interior space) hasn't been addressed and won't be til the next gen model.

The Stinger, despite being older, a niche bodystyle (liftback) and under a mainstream brand, continues to outsell the G70, whereas the 3 Series and A4 outsell their liftback counterparts.
