This is great news for Mercedes. Their quality has suffered as of late due them focusing on Chrysler so much. Hopefully Damiler Benz can get things back on track and fix all their issues at hand.

Honestly, at least for my parents' last 3 Chryslers, reliability has been fine. My issue is the quality of interior materials, especially on their latest (2004) Chrysler (Sebring sedan). Everything is hard plastic and the driving dynamics aren't exactly inspiring (after being spoiled by Honda, maybe I'm biased).

In a move designed to boost both sales and consumer confidence, Chrysler announced today that it will be offering a lifetime limited powertrain warranty on most new Chrysler, Dodge and Jeep models.
Although specific details weren't released, the warranty covers powertrain components: engine, transmission and drive system, according to Chrysler. The warranty is limited to the first buyer or lessee of a new Chrysler and cannot be transfered.
To continue the warranty, the owner must have the vehicle inspected at a dealership every five years - within 60 days of the anniversary. Chrysler says that the inspections will be free.
The lifetime powertrain warranty program begins with vehicles delivered tomorrow - July 26. Chrysler hasn't released specifically what vehicles apply for coverage other than saying that "most" Chrysler, Dodge and Jeep models will be covered.

Now if they actually made some compelling vehicles, this warranty thing might help. But as long as they continue to produce enormous, plasticky vehicles, it won't interest me.

I think the only vehicle this would really apply to would be a Jeep Wranger. Since the warranty is not transferrable, that's the only vehicle that I could see keeping 5+ years.

This warranty seems to be less useful than the 10 yr 100K warranties offered by the Korean mfgs and Mitsubishi. At least those warranties are transferrable.
I guess it's good for people who plan on buying Chryslers and driving them forever, but who would want to do that?

those warranty's are 10/100k but they only cover powertrain for 5/60k. this new chrysler warranty is covering powertrain for "lifetime"

they cant even go past 75k miles without having a problem. so i don't know how a chrysler will last a lifetime. marketing garbage, just trying to boost sales for there crappy cars. the only way i would buy one is with the SRT package and thats if i got a Good deal on one i mean a "REALLY GOOD DEAL" on one.

That being said, they are still boring cars IMO and do not interest me whatsoever.

It is very interesting that Consumer Report rated Acura is more reliable and better quality, but as from what I have seem it is not. all my dodge never have paint peeling off problem and yes they are parked outside unlike my Acura is garaged for half of its life. Acura is fawking cheap on material quality and paint.
My Acura is only 50k miles and I can give you a long list of things Acura repair shop did for me.

My paint is flawless on my TL with over 240k miles on it, never a issue other than the trans problem
Id buy another acura hands down (if they came up with something RWD)

I owned a 1983 Dodge Aries and still have animosity towards my parents for making me spend my money on that when I was 18.
I wanted a 81 Scirocco. Instead I get a car that caught on fire before 50k miles. Then a bought a Buick because I listened to them (get something sensible) and that caught on fire at 55k miles.
My point? I don't think I have one.

The reason why people have less problems with their old chryslers is because compared to your acura its a POS and things that might bother you in the ACK i.e rattles would never come close to bothering you in a shitty sirrus. With a car like that your just happy when it turns over every morning and expect nothing less from it. Fact is their products are vanilla and boring, the only cars that they have that are exciting are such poor investments that with the depreciation you could by another subcompact car to use as a beater if you compare it to Jap or german vehicles. Depreciation on domestics is nearly an exponential rate of decrease so they simply don't make sense to purchase.
