Cool vid.
Why doesn't Ferrari mount the shift paddles to the wheel.....watching him have to move his hands around the wheel coming out of a corner to shift is odd.

the Scuderia and 430 in general never *really* grew on me. with this car, it was almost instant sex.

Love the car, I'm just not sure about the extensions on the headlights. They'll just have to grow on me.

In the Ferrari video he said it was 2.5 revolutions from lock to lock IIRC. By comparison, an F1 car "lock to lock" on any track would only be a little over one a revolution. At the absolute MAX, an F1 wheel could maybe turn close to 1.25 - 1.5 revolutions lock to lock. The paddles are not mounted on the wheel in the Ferrari because they feel it is better in a road car application. I have seen a few road tests over the years that explained why Ferrari and others mount them on the column.

^^^ thanks.. I knew there was some discontinuity and something invalid about comparing the two but couldn't put my finger on it.

I just thought of something else.
In a car with wheel mounted paddles, there is a possibility to make an incorrect shift because of how much a road car's wheel can turn (ie there is a possibility to get "lost" on the wheel in terms of where the up/down paddle is).
In a car with column mounted paddles or a car with a traditional manual, that cant happen because the paddle or shift lever is in a fixed position. Yes, you have to remove your hand from the wheel briefly, but in all but a few situations that isn't a very big deal, if ever.

F1 steering wheels do not turn as far as normal road car steering wheels. At most, the steering wheel in an F1 car is only ever turned about 180 degrees (half a revolution) from center to the left or right going around a track (for example, in a hairpin). In most turns they do not even break what would be roughly a 90 degree turn of the wheel (quarter turn).

I have paddles for the dual clutch on the wheel, and not having to move my hands in certain corners to up shift is fantastic.
It would be odd to have to move your hand to 3 o-clock to upshift as the guy in the vid had to do a few times.
Just seems so odd to have them stationary.

I have been one of the long-standing paddle shifter critics but I'm throwing in the towel, it was only a question of time. And, if you watch the videos it's easy to understand why there's no manual. The auto is HEAVENLY.

Paddle shifters = me no buy.
Not like it was ever an issue with this vehicle, even if I had the money. But if paddle shifters start taking the place of everyday manuals, I'll be riding the train.

I will always want an old traditional manual with the clutch pedal. So as long as those are still offered, I wont have to worry about where paddles are located.

Paddle shifters only? Lame.
I don't get the hype about them, yeah I've been in a GTI with DSG and it shifts faster, and is surprisingly smooth..... but its basically an automatic.
This car has yet to grow on me. I may need to see it in person, but to me there's nothing attractive about the rear, and the little triangular vents between the hood and the headlights is It looks like it has cleft eyes. The lines on it are sexy though, no doubt. oh and as funky as it is, I like the interior!
The F430 on the other hand was sex at first sight.
