Ferrari: 458 Italia News **MM Speciale Revealed (page 11)**

so the KERS isn't going to make it to this model? A very impressive car nonetheless, but that would be sweet if it had KERS. I would imagine that they're more worried about the reliability of the system than people being worried about eco-friendly Ferraris

The 458 Italia is capable of telling the driver when the brakes, tyres and engine are at the optimum operating temperature. Called virtual race engineer, a display in the dash to the left of the rev counter shows a schematic of the car, and components change colour according to temperature. Yellow means the temperatures aren’t high enough, green is the perfect temperature and red means the car is too hot.

I bet we will see the KERS version released in the next year or so. Maybe on the Scuderia version...

Wow, great looking and some nice tech too! Looks like a worthy successor to the F430.

I gotta say, the headlight/hood pontoons are not attractive and detract from the rest of the car. Hopefully a MMY change will smooth out the lights and front end if the silly angles & wedges aren't necessary for aero management.

It just doesn't look like a Ferrari should, at least to me. Of course, I hated the 360 and Enzo as well. Everything else they've done recently, I love. They got rid of two things on the F430 I loved - the hood, and the side profile (specifically, the window and arch lines). They also got rid of a near-universal aesthetically pleasing design - the long hood, short deck. (Yes, even on the MR cars). This is more of a successor to the 360, whereas the F430 could probably be more correctly called the successor to the F355.
IMO, it may outperform the F430, but it will never look as good. Can't put out great cars all the time, I suppose.

In this day and age, every car in the same class, wheter it be sports cars, luxury cars, SUV's, or even mundane sedans shares in one way or another similar design cues.
Seriously, if you really try hard enough of meticulously examining every car to find other cars design, you can see some resemblance designs of other cars.
Its just matter of how much time is being devoted to find resemblance, with a blend of predetermined biased/perception of that car brand in subject.

We are not talking about regular cars here though.. sure you got the companies blatantly copying off others but we would like to think that cars like THIS are held to a higher standard. These are supercars which have a higher level of scrutiny attached to their design. And furthermore, this is a very clear and blatant influence. If you step back and look at the bigger picture, all cars look the same, they all have headlights, hoods, doors, wheels, roofs, windshields, 3/4 panels, taillights, etc. etc. etc. We are talking about valid design issues here.

It doesnt matter if its a exclusive sports car like Ferrari, lambo, etc. At the end of the day, they are just cars. Just like you said, step back and look at the bigger picture, That ferrari and concept NSX both have two doors, headlights, hoods, wheels, tailights, etc.

Well, it's just same with the 2g Insight and Prius..who copied who? People think the Insight copied the Prius. But then I believed the 2g Insight is just an evolutionary design from the 1g design, plus 2 more doors. And then that design is pretty much from the CRX in the 1980's.....
Anyways, my point wasn't copying each other, I just felt that the HSC and the new 458 look similar, and they both look very good, IMO.

Acura designer can only wish to come up with something that looks like the 458. In fact that HSC looks downright amateur next to the Ferrari.

Do you think the ferrari designers would be able to come up with amazing design like 458 Italia if they had the same budget as NSX designers?
So for you to say that Acura designers can only wish to come up with something like 458, you are not considering the reality and the environment in which both company engineers and desginers are working on. Ferrari 458 is almost twice as expensive as NSX, therefore, the budget allowed for research, design and developing their cars would be so much higher than NSX.
Think before you speak, it shows your ignorance and level of cognitive ability...
