Febuary Recalls: All Makes
GM recalls total of 1,260,000 vehicles
Washington, D.C. - The U.S. National Highway Traffic Administration released a list of February vehicle recalls for the following automakers: General Motors, DaimlerChrysler, Mazda, Porsche, Volvo, Honda, and Mitsubishi.
In five separate recall notices, General Motors is recalling a total of 1,262,240 vehicles in North America.
In the first recall, 433,632 full-size cars are being recalled to replace potentially faulty fuel pressure regulators which could cause a leak. Affected vehicles include Buick LeSabre, Oldsmobile 88, and Pontiac Bonneville, model years 1998-1999.
68,875 GM sport utility vehicles, pickup trucks, and passenger vans are recalled to replace a faulty hydro-boost relief valve that could increase braking distances. Affected vehicles include Cadillac Escalade/ESV/EXT, Chevrolet Avalanche, Chevrolet Express, Chevrolet Silverado, Chevrolet Suburban, Chevrolet Tahoe, GMC Savana, GMC Sierra, GMC Yukon/Yukon XL, and Hummer H2, model years 2003-2004.
581,394 GM mid-size sport-utility vehicles are being recalled to inspect and replace faulty windshield wiper motors and electronics. Vehicles affected include Chevrolet TrailBlazer/TrailBlazer EXT, GMC Envoy/ Envoy XL, and Oldsmobile Bravada, model years 2002-2003.
126,624 Chevrolet Corvettes, model years 1997-2004, are being recalled to fix the steering column lock which could lock the steering wheel in place while the car is being driven.
And in a relatively minor recall, 51,715 Chevrolet Malibus, model year 2004, were equipped with incorrect warning labels on the sun visors. GM will send replacement labels to owners.
In other recalls, Mazda is recalling 15,800 MPV minivans, model year 2004 to repair a passenger airbag that might not inflate properly. Mazda is also recalling 29,300 RX8s, model year 2004, to fix the same problem, and another 12,000 RX-8s with manual transmissions to replace a heat insulator.
Honda is recalling 440,000 Civics, model year 2001-2002, and Insights, model years 2000-2002, to replace a headlight switch which could fail leading to a loss of low-beams.
DaimlerChrysler is recalling 3,200 Dodge Caravan/Grand Caravans, model year 2005, equipped with the 'stow and go' rear seats. The right front seat belt retractor may have been improperly assembled.
In three separate recalls, Porsche is recalling 20,686 vehicles. 4,144 Porsche Cayennes, model years 2003-2004, are being recalled to replace the driver's seat frame which could break due to improper welding; 4,100 Cayennes, model year 2004, are being recalled to inspect the transfer case housing which could fracture; and 10,637 Porsche Cayenne SUVs, model years 2003-2004, are recalled to repair or replace a wiring harness. 1,805 Porsche 911 models, model year 2003, are being recalled to replace the front seats which could tilt to one side in the event of a rear end collision.
Volkswagen is recalling 377,130 Jettas, model yeare 1999-2002, to replace a potentially faulty brake light switch, and Volvo is recalling 3,242 V70/V70XC models to replace a brake light relay.
