Do the dealerships provide loaner cars for ALL service requests?

From what I have been told, no. That is actually a dealer by dealer opition. My dealer will loan me a car as long as the car has to be in the shop more than 4 hours. So save for oil changes (which takes them less than an hour to do), I get a loaner at my dealership. Will be interesting to see other peoples experince.

I just called the local dealership and spoke with someone in the service department. The guy told me that they do have loaner cars available, but that it may depend on the service. He said that, if a loaner is not available, then they also have shuttle service available. I guess the shuttle is an option, but I prefer (and have gotten used to having) a loaner car for everything, including oil changes.

My Acura dealer will give you a loaner car if the service is going to take several hours (not for anything you would normally wait on - like an oil change). They only have so many loaner cars available so, you may get an appointment several days later than if you don't need one.

My friend just bought a Mazda (Tribute) and mentioned that she'll get a loaner car and detailing (read: car wash) for any service. My dealer didn't say anything specifically about it, and I forgot to ask.

My dealer will give out a loaner when the service takes more than two hours. When I did the 30k service on my '02 one month ago, they gave me an '03 TL-P loaner, but there's an Enterprise rental outlet right in the dealer and they (dealer) use it to arrange rentals.
