https://www.thedrive.com/news/38741/...ossover-report

General Motors wants to build at least one Chevrolet Corvette-inspired electric vehicle as part of a potential expansion of the Corvette brand into a family of performance vehicles, reports Bloomberg. If approved, the first new car in the Corvette lineup will be very similar to what we saw on stage in GM's Consumer Electronics Show presentation this week: an electric crossover SUV.

GM already has designers working on a range of Corvette-branded concepts as part of the project, which is internally codenamed "Project R" or "Brand R," per unnamed sources familiar with the plan who spoke with Bloomberg. The idea is to attract a wider range of buyers who like the Corvette's high-performance reputation and design but want a vehicle with more interior space or storage than the existing Corvette sports car allows.

One person familiar with the project told Bloomberg that a Corvette SUV could go on sale as early as 2025, but would more likely hit dealerships later this decade. The new crossover model would have a profile similar to that of the Ford Mustang Mach-E or Lamborghini Urus, per Bloomberg's sources. It would also be a full battery-electric vehicle.

A GM spokesperson declined to comment to Bloomberg. The Drive also reached out to a GM representative, who emphasized GM's commitment to electrificiation, but declined to comment on any unannounced future products:

"At CES, Chevrolet confirmed it will offer a refreshed Bolt EV and all-new Bolt EUV coming this summer - we will share more details next month about these. Additionally, we announced four future all-electric Chevrolets leveraging GM’s Ultium battery system – including a pickup and a compact crossover – as part of GM’s larger commitment to introduce 30 EVs globally by 2025. We have not disclosed specific timing or any other product details.

"Regarding other stories you may have seen about Corvette, while there’s lots of excitement out there, we do not comment on rumors and speculation."

GM has considered building other performance vehicles with styling cues from the Corvette in the past, Bloomberg notes. Ford beat them to the punch with the introduction of the Mustang Mach-E electric crossover, which was an all-new type of vehicle wearing the Mustang nameplate. That decision was polarizing among enthusiasts, as some are fine with it, but others firmly believe that the name "Mustang" only belongs on a two-door Ford muscle car.

GM is also in the midst of a big push towards electrification, announcing its plans to release 30 new EVs by 2030 and unveiling a brand-new all-electric delivery vehicle brand called BrightDrop this week. The company reassigned its entire Corvette team to electric and autonomous vehicles last September, lending extra weight to Bloomberg's report. It makes sense to task the people who know Corvettes with designing Corvette-inspired EVs.

Either way, personally, I hate it. Corvette styling cues on other vehicles would be fine, if done well, and could even be a cool way to develop a unified styling direction for the Chevrolet brand as a whole. Calling those completely different kinds of vehicles Corvettes? Nah. Let Ford take this L by themselves, please, and leave the good name of the Corvette alone.

I guess the days of the low-slung sports cars are going to die once BEVs become the norm. The usual skateboard frame with the batteries running the entire length of the floor means that all the cars will have to sit quite a bit higher. The original Tesla roadster had to dump its entire battery pack behind the seats, which would likely throw off the balance.

Here's a rendering, except it shouldn't have the massive front grills

Almost everything about the mid-engine Chevrolet Corvette is positively sublime, but one of its more polarizing features is a high, cockpit-style center console that splits the cabin. It's a distinctive element, and not everybody loves it, but if that's the price of admission for something as great to drive as the C8, we can live with it, but we may not have to for much longer.

Per a story in the April issue of Motor Trend (which comes from MidEngineCorvetteForum.com via The Drive), GM's new head designer, Michael Simcoe, is reportedly not a fan of this component of the C8's interior styling, and it may be going away as soon as the 2023 model year.

The criticism appears to be focused on the controls incorporated into the console, rather than the broader design of that cabin element. The layout of these switches is a bit awkward at first blush, and the sheer quantity of physical controls present is made all the more visually impactful by their linear placement. This execution de-clutters other elements of the interior, but apparently Simcoe isn't satisfied with the final product.

Here's the MT excerpt, as quoted by the forum:
The C8 Corvette’s somewhat fussy styling was already locked and loaded when Michael Simcoe took over at GM Design Chief.

But sources in Detroit say the mid-cycle re-design Simcoe had originally planned for 2025 has been put on the back burner as GM pours money in its electrical vehicle program. However, inside say an interior redesign aimed at among other things fixing the array of button and switches cascading down the buttress on the right side of the center console has survived the bean counters. The redesigned interior will reportedly appear on 2023 C8’s.
In our experience, the button layout hasn't been much of an issue, and some of us have actually liked it and appreciated the unique design. We do see how it's inconvenient for the passenger, with all the controls facing toward the driver and hidden by a tiny wall.

https://gmauthority.com/blog/2021/08...-paint-colors/

The 2022 Corvette arrives as the third model year of the mid-engine C8 Chevy Corvette Stingray, introducing a few changes and updates over the preceding 2021 model year. Among these is the deletion of three exterior paint colors.

The three exterior paint colors set for deletion with the 2022 Corvette include Zeus Bronze Metallic, Shadow Gray Metallic, and Sebring Orange Tintcoat.

As GM Authority covered previously, these three exterior paint options will be replaced with three new exterior paint options, namely Hypersonic Gray Metallic (paint code GA7), Amplify Orange Tintcoat (paint code G48), and Caffeine Metallic (paint code GC5). The three new paint colors for the 2022 Corvette were introduced during the 2021 Bash event at the National Corvette Museum in Bowling Green, Kentucky.

“Corvette continues to have strong demand,” said Car, Performance and Motorsports Communications for Chevrolet, Trevor Thompkins, during the 2021 National Corvette Museum Bash event. “Most of the vehicles we’ve built have been sold orders personalized by their owners, so fresh colors help Corvette buyers showcase their individuality on road.”

In addition to the replacement of three exterior paint colors, the 2022 Corvette also introduces the IMSA GTLM Championship C8.R Edition, a special, limited-run model based on the top 3LT trim level and equipped with a range of extra equipment, including a unique graphics package intended to mimic the livery of the No. 3 Corvette C8.R and No. 4 Corvette C8.R race cars. The No. 3 edition includes Accelerate Yellow paint with gray graphics, while the No. 4 edition includes Hypersonic Gray paint with yellow graphics.

Further equipment includes:
  • Yellow brake calipers
  • Black-painted Trident alloy wheels with the Jake logo center caps
  • Carbon Flash-painted exterior sideview mirrors
  • Black-painted side rockers
  • Black splash guards
  • Strike Yellow and Sky Cool Gray interior upholstery
  • GT2 seats
Just 1,000 examples of the 2022 Corvette IMSA GTLM Championship C8.R Edition will be built.

We removed brown, gray & orange, and replaced them with brown, gray & orange

The IMSA spec cars are neat though.

Two years after Chevy introduced the C7 Z06, the Grand Sport was added to the Chevrolet Corvette lineup. Essentially a Stingray with the dry-sump engine of the Z51 Performance Package and goodies from the C7 Z06, the Grand Sport will be replaced by a hybrid Corvette known as the E-Ray.

45 photos

Originally expected to premiere in 2022, the fuel-sipping sports car may have been pushed back to 2023 for the 2024 model year because the Z06 has been confirmed for the 2023 model year. Spied testing alongside the flat-plane crankshaft V8-engined C8 Z06, the E-Ray can be seen benchmarking against a hybrid supercar in the guise of a white Acura NSX.

Instead of a twin-turbocharged V6 or a flat-plane V8, the E-Ray is understood to pack a cross-plane V8 in the form of the LT2 from the C8 Stingray. The hybrid part of the powertrain may consist of an electric motor (or two electric motors) up front, which is a double-edged sword when you think about it. On the one hand, electric AWD should be great in the twisties. But that motor (or motors) may render the frunk useless as well.

The rear tires read Michelin Pilot Sport All-Season 4 ZP and 345/25 ZR21 on the sidewall, which confirms the rumors according to which the E-Ray would feature the wider body of the Z06. As a brief refresher, the Z06 has been spied with 345/25 by 21-inch Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 R steamrollers, the same compound that helped Porsche break the Nurburgring lap record with the Manthey Racing 911 GT2 RS back in June.

Up front, the Chevrolet Corvette E-Ray boasts air intakes that slash down toward the center point of the bumper for better looks and improved cooling. A total of five prototypes were captured by the carparazzi with two different wheel designs, coupe and convertible body styles, as well as a right-hand-drive cabin configuration for the Australian, Japanese, and British markets.

Another interesting detail that’s worth highlighting is the instrument cluster, which is covered with a taped-on panel to keep the prying eyes of the spy photographers from seeing any of the E-Ray’s graphics. On that note, what kind of numbers can we expect from the hybridized small-block V8 engine?

For starters, the LT2 develops 495 horsepower and 470 pound-feet (637 Nm) of torque with the less restrictive NPP exhaust system. Hearsay suggests 50-plus horsepower from two electric motors butted together, raising the hybrid system’s output to approximately 600 horsepower. The internal combustion-only Z06, by comparison, promises 617 horsepower.

https://www.motor1.com/news/536709/c...rior-revealed/

The 2023 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 is scheduled for a full reveal on October 26. However, Chevy is giving us an early preview by showing off the performance car’s exterior design, revealing the mid-engine Corvette with an even more aggressive design. Spy shots have shown the coupe covered in camouflage and, frequently, with a massive rear wing, though it’s absent in Chevy’s latest reveal.

The big wing’s absence lends credence to the notion that the big wing will be part of an optional performance package, though the regular Z06 should offer plenty of it. The car allegedly uses a 5.5-liter V8 with a flat-plane crankshaft and dual overhead camshafts. It’s a version of the engine used in the C8.R race car, which Chevy has photographed together with the new Z06. It could produce 617 horsepower (460 kilowatts). Power will route to the wheels through a Tremec-sourced transmission.

The latest photo from Chevy gives us our first clear look at the car’s exterior, revealing a new fascia, unique wheels, and other minor tweaks. Everything below the hood’s leading edge looks new, with a new grille opening, tweaked intake designs, and a more aggressive front splitter. New rear quarter panels tweak the side air intakes’ design along the side, further enhanced by a new door sill piece. Sadly, we can’t see the rear, though spy shots hinted at a new bumper design, quad exhaust pipes, and other sporty upgrades.

We’ll get all the details in a month when Chevy reveals the 2023 Corvette Z06 on Tuesday, October 26. We expect Chevy to dish more Z06 details as the car’s reveal date approaches. Powertrain details are still a mystery, and we don’t know the extent of the interior updates coming to the high-performance model, though we don’t expect any significant interior upgrades. Chevy is calling the Z06 a 2023 model, which likely means the car won’t arrive at dealer lots anytime soon. Chevy will announce the model’s availability this fall.

^ Looks nice

Last year a friend (owned C5 and C6) tried to procure a C8 Z51 2LT to no avail (long story he had deposit but dealership was filling the most expensive C8 orders first), he eventually bought a used 2019 Camaro ZL1 8AT (ironically traded in on a C8).
So far he's loving the ZL1 as well as his g/f who gets to bring more luggage along for 3 day weekend trips. The chip and other shortages has made the C8 situation worst but he still eventually wants a C8. I'm thinking about it now, especially if they redesign the center stackup as the rumor indicates it's happening for 2023 models.

The mid-engine Chevy Corvette's new range-topping performance model has finally arrived. The 2023 Z06 packs a mind-blowing 670 horsepower by way of a 5.5-liter, naturally aspirated, flat-plane crank V8, making it the most powerful naturally aspirated V8 ever put into a production car. Period. And in case you'd forgotten, even the supercharged 2022 Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing offers just 668 ponies. Say hello to the new king of internal-combustion performance at General Motors.

“The new Corvette Z06 defines the American supercar,” said General Motors President Mark Reuss in the Z06 announcement. “It builds on the distinctive design and groundbreaking dynamics introduced with the mid-engine Corvette and elevates them to deliver refined but uncompromising track capability with world-class performance.”

This wider, faster, louder Corvette is offered with multiple aero packages from street-friendly to time-attack, carbon fiber wheels, carbon ceramic brakes and a completely overhauled chassis engineered to put all-out track performance front and center. Production of this new monster is expected to begin in summer of 2022.

Sure, the LT6 V8's 460 lb-ft of torque may pale in comparison to the Blackwing's output, but it's head-and-shoulders above the power output of the overhead-valve LT2 in the Stingray, which makes "just" 495 hp and 470 lb-ft. Plus, neither the LT2 nor the Blackwing's monster LT4 winds out to anything approaching 8,600 RPM. In fact, peak power in the Z06 comes at 8,400. If your expectation for a V8 is a fat, wide tsunami of torque, this highly-strung breaker may not be your cup of tea. To lug this engine around would be to miss the entire point. Here it is, directly from Chevy:

"More than horsepower, the new LT6 is designed to complement all aspects of the Z06’s track-focused performance experience. From its 8,600-rpm redline and full racing-style dry-sump oiling system to meticulously tuned induction and exhaust systems, this engine exudes an entirely new and emotional character. The key to the LT6’s performance capability is a lightweight, low-inertia rotating assembly rooted in an all-new flat-plane crankshaft that, along with a comparatively short stroke (the distance each piston/connecting rod assembly travels with each rotation of the crankshaft), allows the engine to rev to its maximum range."

"A version of the LT6 has powered the C8.R race cars since 2019, and the rigors of endurance road racing helped engineers refine the engine’s performance and durability."

Translation? This is an engine that not only makes power up high, but was engineered specifically to operate at those speeds for extended periods of time. On a race track, engines are expected to operate almost exclusively at or near the peak of their powerband. This is where the Z06's upgraded eight-speed dual-clutch transmission comes into play. The more gear ratios available to the engine, the more exploitable a peakier curve becomes.

The hand-assembled LT6 retains the 4.4-inch bore spacing common to Chevy's small block engines, but you'll struggle to find too many more similarities. The valvetrain is a complete departure, foregoing the tried-and-true (and compact) overhead valve packaging common to the small block family in favor of dual overhead camshafts. The pistons and connecting rods are forged; the intake valves are titanium and the exhaust valves sodium-filled. Track junkies will appreciate the return of a dry-sump oiling system.

There's plenty to talk about outside of the engine bay too. While the standard C8's basic chassis and suspension architecture carry over, many components have been beefed up and the standard Magnetic Ride Control 4.0 adaptive suspension system. The base brakes are bigger, with 14.6-inch-diameter rotors up front and 15-inchers in the rear. The Z06's base Brembos come with six-piston calipers; the standard Stingray gets four-pots.

The Z06's wider fenders made room for larger, wider wheels and tires (20x10-inch front wheels wrapped in 275/30ZR20s and 21x13-inch rears with 345/25ZR21s) and widen the car overall by 3.6 inches. Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires are standard, with Sport Cup 2s available with the Z07 package. The rest of the body was designed with similar functional upgrades. The larger openings in the front fascia feed beefed-up cooling systems for the engine and transaxle, with some air being diverted to cool the brakes as well.

Sticking with the body, even the standard Z06 comes with an adjustable rear spoiler to help drivers optimize its aero performance, but that's just the tip of the iceberg. For those who want more, Chevy will offer two aero upgrade packages. The basic carbon fiber aero package adds a larger front splitter, front corner-mounted dive planes, a pedestal-mounted rear wing and underbody strakes to improve downforce. Above that is the Z07 package, which is where things really get nutty.

Z07 is the no-holds barred, I-belong-in-the-fastest-run-group version. This performance package includes the aforementioned Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires (custom-engineered for the Z06), an upgraded suspension with further recalibration of the standard Z06's MRC 4.0 system, and Brembo carbon ceramic brakes with larger rotors. In fact, the Z07 package is the only variant of the Corvette that has larger rotors on the front axle (15.7") than on the rear (15.4"). Chevrolet says the Z06 with the Z07 Performance Package can pull 1.22g of lateral acceleration on its 300-foot diameter skidpad.

Wow, I kinda expected it to have a super charger or turbo strapped to it.

670 is VERY healthy for an NA 5.5l.

The base-model C8 Corvette is no slouch. With 495 horsepower and a zero to 60 time under three seconds, it’s got more performance than any of us will likely ever use on the way to work. What about those track rats, though, the ones who bring their ‘Vettes out for weekends of hot laps? Well, they’ve been waiting for this: the track-pack Z06.

The Z06 package started as an option on the 1963 Corvette but came into its own with its revival on the fifth-generation car. Since then, every generation of Corvette has had a Z06 package with more power, better handling, and revised bodywork. The C8, different though its engine placement may be, is no longer an exception.

So what’s different about the Z06? Well, for starters, the Stingray’s 6.2 liter V8 is out, replaced with a 5.5-liter flat-plane V8 making 670 horsepower and 460 lb-ft of torque. Torque may be down from the base model’s 470, but the increased horsepower leads Chevrolet to claim the new LT6 is the most powerful naturally-aspirated production V8 — with the Mercedes SLS AMG Black Series taking a distant second place with 622, they seem to be right.

Those 670 horses make their way to the wheels through the same eight-speed dual clutch transmission as the Stingray, but the final drive ratio has been upped from 4.9 to 5.86 for better acceleration. The result is a zero to 60 sprint of 2.6 seconds, a number formerly attainable only by all-wheel-drive supercars.

The Vette may only drive its rear wheels, but it’s not wanting for grip — the new Z06 comes with enormous carbon fiber wheels wrapped in track-ready rubber. The front gets 275-section tires on 20" wheels, while the rear gets a staggering (and staggered) 345-section tire wrapped around 21" wheels. The entire car is 3.6 inches wider than the Stingray, to house both the wide wheels and wider rear air intakes to feed (and cool) the engine.

Behind those wheels lie upsized brakes and optional carbon ceramics with the Z07 package. That package also includes Michelin Cup 2 R tires and a full-car aero package — front lip, ground effects, canards, and an enormous rear wing. All in, the Z07 makes 734 lbs of downforce at 186 mph and can pull an astonishing 1.22 lateral Gs.

Inside the car, not much is different from the existing Stingray coupe and convertible (yes, the Z06 is available in both). The biggest thing most drivers will notice is the tachometer’s new 8600-rpm redline — and the new banshee wail coming from behind their heads.

Chevrolet hasn’t revealed pricing for the new Z06 yet, but
estimates based on the previous generation’s pricing point to a starting price around the mid-$80,000 mark. Availability was also not announced, but given production woes, it may be a minute before you can pick up your new track-day toy.

Damn.... 5.5L V8 revs to 8.6k redline...

It is already music to my ear and I dont even know what it sounds like.

That would be the first GM Product i would buy IF i can get 1 at MSRP ($90k?, dont need the Z07 pkg)...Of course that is impossible.

I don't like the way the base model looks but the Z has those flared arches that really help. I've read a few stories that say the price will start in the mid-80k range, but I have a hard time believing that. I'd expect closer to $100k for the tech you're getting.

I could see it in the $80s, but I never saw a single base trim Z06 or ZR1 (C6) in my time at Chevrolet.
Maybe, if you could get a dealer to give up allocation & order a base, but likely with a hefty deposit, for what would be a tough sell order if the buyer backs out.

I expect most non-sold allocations to be mid to upper trim orders, $90k & up.

2023 c8 corvette z06 technical review: All your questions answered w/ top engineers!

Pretty good technical overview of the Z06, probably more car than the majority of the street driven C8 drivers will ever use.

Aaron Link is lead development engineer, Tadge is the executive Corvette engineer

https://jalopnik.com/radar-detectors...ors-1848185416

It’s no secret that modern cars rely on electronics to do pretty much everything, and the C8 Corvette is no exception. An electrical fault could cost you rear visibility if it takes out the backwards-facing camera, or turn an electronically-actuated convertible roof into an impromptu fixed hardtop. Despite that, you’d expect the hard structures of the car, things like glass and metal, to be immune to such modern annoyances. Well, the Corvette is here to shatter your expectations once again.

According to a new technical bulletin from General Motors, aftermarket radar detectors hard-wired to the car behind the rear-view mirror can affect how voltage flows elsewhere in the car — specifically, to the side-view mirrors. This increased voltage can permanently dim the mirror, and cause its face to fill with a frustrating Nazca line pattern.

The issue specifically appears to affect the car’s “X1 connector”, an electrical connector that’s tucked away behind the mirror. It seems that this jumper can somehow over-volt the side mirrors, though how exactly this happens isn’t described in the service bulletin. The solution, however, is: Unplug your radar detector and replace the mirror, and do it all outside the warranty’s coverage.

Interestingly, the service bulletin (and a related forum post on the topic) specifically mention radar detectors — and only radar detectors. And the location of the harness in question looks prime to tap into for other hardwire needs, like a dashcam, but those are never brought up.

Maybe C8 owners aren’t installing dashcams due to the car’s built-in array of cameras, or maybe radar detectors just get installed first. With a car that quick, I can understand those priorities.

GM’s service bulletin doesn’t mention any sort of preventative maintenance from the company, so it’s unclear if this is an issue that could be fixed via a dealer update. As a possible at-home solution, a smart enough controller board could likely regulate the amount of voltage going towards each mirror, but it all depends on how the system is wired — an odd factor to have to consider for a mirror.

A number of tornadoes swept through portions of six states in the U.S. Midwest and South over the weekend. After one of the twisters landed in Kentucky and traversed 227 miles on the ground, killing more than 50 people, Governor Andy Beshear said his state suffered "the worst, most devastating tornado event in Kentucky's history." The storms also made their presence felt at the GM Bowling Green Assembly Plant that builds the Chevrolet Corvette, and the National Corvette Museum in Bowling Green, Kentucky. In addition to weather damage, a fire started at the assembly plant, which one resident caught on video. All of the plant employees are safe, but the damage is bad enough to compel Chevrolet to call off production for this week.

GM Authority reports the UAW Local 2164 shop chairman sent a note to plant employees saying that a UAW team was assessing the damage, GM telling Automotive News that an employee entrance and the roof have been affected. This is yet another interruption for the plant, which can't seem to catch a break, running behind on C8 Corvette production since it started building the car. In June, a parts shortage caused a short pause of the lines. In July, Tony Johnson, Chevrolet's director of car and crossover marketing, said the Bowtie was “not even close” to catching up to demand for the only product it makes. In October, GM briefly idled the plant to give a supplier time to catch up on parts. At the beginning of November, GM had to cut a shift due to a parts shortage. All of those issues have been separate from the microchip woes.

More than a hundred 2022 Chevrolet Corvette C8 cars were damaged by the tornado that hit the Bowling Green plant on December 11 and all of them will have to be destroyed. Recent pictures posted online show the cars lined up and waiting for the crusher.
7 photos

According to earlier reports, most of the cars got damaged on the production line. As the roof got consumed by a fire that erupted during the tornado, the water entered the factory and affected the unprotected cars already on the assembly line. The exact number of cars damaged by water is unknown but there could be as many as 120 future Corvette owners who will have to wait a little longer for their dream car to be delivered.

As disturbing as it may be, General Motors decided to destroy all affected cars. The difficult decision was made because they could not guarantee the normal operation of the sensitive electronics inside. Now we have a chance to see all those cars lined up and waiting for the crusher, thanks to some pictures posted online by Kornel Werner and brought to our attention by CorvetteBlogger.

The cars are missing the doors and the exterior body panels, so you see how they got damaged by the water during the storm. We are not sure why would GM destroy the cars entirely and not try to salvage the parts that are less prone to water damage, but it’s their decision and we understand how they wouldn’t take any chances. The best thing is that future 2022 Corvette owners will get a car that they can enjoy without worrying about water damage.

The production at GM’s Bowling Green, Ky. assembly plant was halted for a week in the aftermath of the tornado that stormed the place on December 11. The cars on the production line were damaged by the water as a result, while other cars were hit by debris while parked outside. This caused delivery delays and the affected customers were notified to resubmit their configurations.

You may have heard about the Chevrolet Corvette Z06 70th Anniversary Edition already. It sort of leaked last week, and by sort-of, we mean Chevy inadvertently published photos and information regarding the anniversary model on its website. It wasn't up for very long, but it was long enough to let the cat out of the bag. However, it turns out the cat wasn't completely out of that bag.

Now, we do have full official information on the anniversary Corvette, and it's not just a Z06 thing. Chevrolet will offer the 70th Anniversary Edition package on the Z06 as well as Stingray models in 3LT trim. For Z06, the package is offered on 3LZ cars, meaning you won't ever find a base model 'Vette with the 70th Anniversary Package. You can have it with a coupe or convertible, but even if you don't check the box for the package, every single 2023 Corvette will have 70th Anniversary branding on the center speaker grille and rear window.

What makes this package special? Aside from badges, the 70th Anniversary Edition adds unique wheels with red edges and anniversary center caps. You'll also get red brake calipers, a rear bumper protector and trunk cover, and on 2023 Corvette Stingray coupes, the package adds a red engine cover. There's more red inside with contrast stitching and seatbelts, while the seats are a special Ceramic leather two-tone. Suede seat inserts and a suede steering wheel are included, and for travelers, there's a special set of anniversary-branded luggage

The 2023 Chevrolet Corvette 70th Anniversary Edition is available only in Carbon Flash Metallic or an all-new shade of white called White Pearl Metallic Tri-Coat. Over-the-top stripes are optional and limited to gray on white cars or black on the carbon-painted 'Vettes

"Passion for Corvette runs deep at Chevrolet and this anniversary is extra special because of the excitement and sales success we've achieved with the eighth generation of America's iconic sports car," said Chevrolet Vice President of Marketing Steve Majoros. "Even after 70 years, Corvette still makes hearts race and kids dream of the open road."

The first production C8 Corvette Z06 slated for auction at Barrett-Jackson will be a 70th Anniversary Edition. As for the rest, they will go on sale later this year but you can let your imagination run wild right now with the online Z06 visualizer, which has returned to Chevrolet's website.

I like the interior, not a fan of the exterior. I'd love to get a C8 (even though no MT) but don't see them coming down to earth in terms of pricing anytime soon.

That door badge on the white car has got to go. Looks really out of place, IMO.
I'd probably opt for something of 'comparable' performance that's a few years old, if I were in the market to spend that kind of $$.

For the current going rate of a C8, I'd buy a 911 no question. Or even a Cayman GT4/Boxster Spyder.

Cayman/Boxster or Elise/Exige was my first thoughts.
Maybe a real Lotus/Caterham 7.

Automakers expend a ton of effort to keep their precious secrets safe from corporate espionage. Though, some decisions are so obvious that it’s hard to keep them under wraps. For example, since the latest-generation Corvette’s launch, it was expected that America’s sports car would see a hybrid drivetrain. Well, General Motors President Mark Reuss went to LinkedIn to confirm the Corvette team is working on both a hybrid and a battery-electric ‘Vette.

Reuss writes, “Yes, in addition to the amazing new Chevrolet Corvette Z06 and other gas-powered variants coming, we will offer an electrified and a fully electric, Ultium-based Corvette in the future. In fact, we will offer an electrified Corvette as early as next year. Details and names to come at a later date.”While we expected the hybrid Corvette because of a few interesting notes in the owner’s manual, the battery-electric Corvette was speculated but far from confirmed. Sure, we saw General Motors file for the E-Ray trademark, which pointed toward a battery-electric ‘Vette, but nothing was concrete. This week, Reuss confirming that the Corvette team is working on an Ultium-based Corvette basically puts an end to the speculation.

Now, Reuss specifically notes that names and specifics are still to come. What we can see from the video are a few details the company wanted out in the open, including one detail: Corvette is going all-wheel-drive—you can see all four wheels throwing snow. Chevrolet doesn’t explicitly mention that this camo-covered Corvette is either model, though you can see the heat distortion coming from the Corvette’s rear, which points to an internal-combustion engine. Combine that with an electric motor at the front axle, and it points to this video likely being the Corvette hybrid.

As you saw in the quote above, this is happening soon. Reuss notes that an electrified Corvette could launch as early as next year. That would make sense, as it would be a follow-up to the latest Zo6 variant. Of course, details and specifics are to come, but you can almost expect a surge in performance metrics to help compensate for additional weight that comes with hybrid hardware. Regardless, it looks like the C8 Corvette is going to bring bigger changes to the Corvette name than just where the company puts the engine.

Prospective customers of the C8 will soon be presented with bad news. An official notice from General Motors, effective today, will see a $2,300 bump in retail price for Stingrays “produced on or after June 13th.”
18 photos

Shared by Gearhead_SS of the Mid-Engine Corvette Forum, the official notice further states that “select options will also be revised.” Dealership invoices will increase accordingly, yet discounts will remain unchanged.

The good news? “Retail sold order price protection eligibility dates are dictated by the customer and dealer order dates.” The customer order date must be prior to June 13th, and the GM systems order date must be “no more than one workday after the date of the price increase.” Current order holders don’t have to worry about it. Order status 3000 order holders, most likely.

As a brief refresher, 3000 means that it’s accepted by production control. 2000 means that it’s accepted by GM, and 1100 is a preliminary order.

In terms of pricing, the 1LT coupe is listed at $65,595, including the $1,395 destination charge. Not by the build-your-own tool but by the official notice. The configurator may be changed to the new pricing tomorrow.

The 2LT is available for $72,895 before options, and $77,545 is the sticker price of the 3LT. Opting for the convertible translates to $73,095 for the 1LT, $7,500 more than the coupe. The open-top Stingray 2LT and Stingray 3LT are $79,895 and $84,545. In terms of extras treated to price increases, the E60 front lift, and AH2 GT2 bucket seats open the list at $2,595 and $1,695.

C8s have gotten really expensive, that’s for sure! The personalized interior plaque with the owner’s name and chassis number is $295, the D30 color combination override is $695, and the orange seat belts now cost $495.

Tension Blue, yellow, and tan seat belts carry the same price. Two-tone seats now cost $595, sueded microfiber on the steering wheel is $695, and the red or yellow custom leather stitching is listed at $495. The custom trim and seat combo override will set you back $695, painted brake calipers now cost $695, black exhaust tips are $395, chrome exterior badges retail at $295, and the Carbon Flash-painted exterior mirrors are now listed at $195.

“It came straight to my dealership email, and verified by pulling up the GM pricing schedule, so it’s definitely legit,” states the forum member.

Unfortunately, the MSRP for the Z06 still is nowhere to be seen.

The wait is finally over for Chevrolet fans who were dying to know how much money they would need to have at the ready to get their hands on a 2023 Corvette Z06.
21 photos

General Motors has revealed pricing information for the 2023 Chevrolet Corvette Z06, and the all-new Chevy will step into the six-figure territory for the first time in the nameplate's history. The coupe variant of the C8 Z06 will start at $106,395, while the convertible model will cost $113,895 for the base model.

That’s a starting price that’s $25,000 higher than its C7 Z06 predecessor and about $40,000 more than the base 2023 Corvette Stingray.

The 2023 Chevy Corvette Z06 will be available in three trims – 1LZ, 2LZ, and 3LZ. The $106,395 and $113,895 prices are for the entry-level 1LZ trims for the Coupe and Convertible versions, respectively. These price tags include the $1,395 destination charge.

The 2LZ trim for the Z06 Coupe starts at $115,595, while the Convertible checks in at $122,595. The top-tier 3LZ trim will cost $120,245 for the Coupe and $127,245 for the Convertible. Note that Chevrolet has not disclosed details on what each trim offers.

However, we do know that you can spend even more than the figures above on a C8 Z06, as the options list offers big-ticket items, including a $10,495 carbon-fiber package and $11,995 carbon-fiber wheels.

Moreover, the Z07 package is back. It includes a track suspension, Brembo carbon ceramic brakes, Michelin Pilot Cup 2R ZPs, and enhanced underbody aero, and you’ll have to churn an additional $8,995 for it.

The order books for the new Chevy Z06 will open on July 28, and the car is set to enter production in September. If you intend to place an order, be prepared to set aside some big bucks for the insane additional dealer markups too.

To sweeten the deal a bit, I’ll remind you that the Chevrolet Corvette Z06 will take you straight to pure automotive nirvana with its bespoke 5.5-liter flat-plane crank naturally aspirated V8, which revs to 8,600 rpm and produces 670 horsepower with 460 lb-ft of torque. Mighty impressive, to say the least!

Still a decent value but damn that's quite a big jump in price. Used to be like half price of a GT3. Now it's more like 2/3rd of the price...for something that's built on a mass production assembly line. Heck, it also looks quite similar to the stingray which GM typically makes 30000 units a year before Covid. Also seems pretty heavy relative to the GT3. Demand will still be there since it's a z06 but can't hide the disappointment.
