I still remember that GM was going to put a t-top/targa hybrid on the C6, they better put it on the C7! And while they're at it, make it NOT look like that abomination
Now I know why.... it reminds me of the GT-R. It looks like they put the fenders and roofline of the GT-R onto a C6. Like a GT-R widebody kit or something.

ZR-1 hits 7:26 around Nurburgring
http://blog.gmnext.com/?p=194
Tadge J. Juechter, Corvette's chief engineer, announced this morning that Jim Mero, GM's development engineer, drove the ZR1 around the Nurburgring in 7:26.4. According to the GMNext blog, the run took place earlier this morning and that conditions were good on the track, with the exception of a strong headwind down the main straight. Mero mentioned that he felt there were a few places where he could have gone faster, although no details were provided about why and where.
Juechter makes it clear that the ZR1 that lapped the 'Ring was instock trim, with the exception of safety and communications equipment. As such, the ZR1 was wearing the same Michelin Pilot Sport 2s found on the production model, the chassis alignment and vehicle height were set to factory specs and the unmodified engine was running on pump gas.
The lap began with a rolling start – which falls in line with current industry practices – and the time was confirmed both through an electronic timing system and two hand-held stopwatches. The ZR1 team will be posting a video of their run when they return from Germany and we'll be keeping our eye out for it when it's online the week of July 7th.

I wish we could get rid of all the dealers and just buy cars directly from the manufacturer. That would get rid of allthis nonsense in a hurry. F**k greedy salesmen and sales managers....

GM needs to yank the supply of cars to those dealers doing such

Sweet. He was pushing it pretty good.

on the long straight he seems to sit at 175 for a while, doesn't really push it past that until the downhill section takes him to 180ish for about a sec or so...
if i continued to push it I think he could have hit 185-190 on that straight, now that is assuming the brakes would let him do that and survive the next turn...

The driver left a bit on the table in my opinion. He was going balls out, but could have been a bit smoother in a few areas. The car appeared to be very traction limited. Impressive driving on a 13 mile lap!

That looks like shit.... reminds me of one of those GM Motorama concept cars back in the 50's somewhat
If that's what the C7 is gonna look like, cross it off my wish list. Rather have a used C6 or C6 Z06 or a new Camaro.

What's with the pointed arrow nose? It looks like the CL concept from a decade ago.

Dear God please don't let them turn the Corvetter into this monstrosity. That would be another nail in the coffin. Can we please have ONE car that doesn't go retro.

How good of a sports car is the C6 Corvette? I really like the looks of it...I'm trying to go for a test drive soon...

The targa top can squeak though if you don't lube it with silicone grease or some other sort of lube that dampens contact. Even in a 2002 NSX with only 30,000 miles on it, the targa squeaked above 75 mph or so.
Its a buttload of fun to drive, but it is a handful. It isn't necessarily nimble but its got huge tires in the rear, so grip is pretty good until its breaking point at which you need to ease off the throttle a bit and correct. Its surprisingly easy to drive... but you definitely need to pay attention when driving at the limit, because the car doesn't break away progressively. Thankfully though the car regains grip pretty quickly once you lift off a bit, but its more of a GT than an outright sports car. The Z51 package on C6s is supposed to cut down on body roll and make the car more responsive unfortunately I didn't get the chance to try out a C6 Z51.
I wish I got to drive a C6 Z06 though.... please drive them both and compare the two?
or better yet get the C6 Z06 and post pics

^ Thanks IGTC! Looks like there are great deals to be had on them...35k for an 05/06 with very little miles.
