Here's a torque curve of the Stingray from a dynojet:

I don't know how they do it. GM keeps improving the low-end from each and every SBC iteration. It's not like they were ever lacking in torque either...

It's so flat!

So much for a torque "curve" ....it's a torque "line"

haha to be fair Honda engines tend to have fairly flat torque curves too....of course, they are nowhere close to hovering at the 350lbft mark like the Vette......

MUSTANG - Must Use Supercharger/Turbo Against Naturally-aspirated GM

Even with a supercharger, while there's more peak power, the GT500 isn't as flat. From off-idle to peak, there's a big difference in the Mustang compared to the LT1... DOHC vs. OHV.

Ultimately, the GT500 is faster in a straight line...but that's to be expected since it's a 660hp car....

I think most turbocharged or supercharged engines don't have flat torque curves though.....unless the company artificially limits the torque output (i.e. setting the car up so the peak torque is from 2000-5000rpm).

The National Corvette Museum shared this pic of Corvette Stingrays at the factory! We count nearly 300 including the 11 Convertibles.

If you've received a VIN from GM and notification that its been built, you're Stingray could very well be in this picture.

Today I drove the only C7 Corvette in Kansas City. After the sales person pulled the car out of the dealership and got us going (on the highway at 115 mph), I got to drive this beast. It's everything it's made out to be and more.

Low end torque is simply amazing. Acceleration is supreme and cornering grips like any Porsche.

I thought you might like to see a few pictures........

I'll try to get the video up tonight too. Wait till you hear the exhaust!

Now Steven, I need to ask the most important question of all for all the members here on AZ: Did you pick up lots of hot cougars with this red Corvette?

LOL-Yummy, this beast did get a lot of looks. We drove targa-top off....it was a beautiful day in Kansas City. So it was a perfect day for a test drive.

Here is a video of the start up (inside the dealership). Just click on the picture to open PhotoBucket and see the video and hear the exhaust note.

Here are more pictures of what I drove today:

Post 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray Convertible Atlantic Concept

Press release...

Chevrolet provided the first look at nine high-performance concept cars today at the SEMA Show. The horsepower-infused range includes stylized versions the all-new 2014 Corvette Stingray, SS sports sedan and a variety of restyled 2014 Camaros – including the all-new Z/28.

One of a pair of right- and left-coast-themed concepts, this Blade Silver Convertible model represents the Atlantic side, with sophisticated styling enhancements resembling the details and refinement of a private jet. The exterior wears new Carbon Flash Metallic front splitter, rocker extensions and rear lower diffuser, along with Fusion Grey headlamp housings and hood accents. It is trimmed with a sueded-wrapped interior package.

This East Coast cruiser also wears a number of Chevrolet Accessories available to all 2014 Corvette Stingray customers, including:

Chrome five-spoke wheels – 19 x 8.5-inches in front and 20 x 10-inches in the rear
Wheel centre caps with the Stingray script
Under-hood liner with the Stingray logo
Carbon Flash Metallic rear license plate holder
Molded splash guards
Windscreen mounted behind the seats
Custom luggage
Premium carpet floor mats
Sill plates
Embroidered centre armrest with the Stingray logo.

For effortless driving and performance, the Atlantic concept features an LT1 engine with a six-speed automatic.

2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray Coupe Pacific Concept

Press release...

Chevrolet provided the first look at nine high-performance concept cars today at the SEMA Show. The horsepower-infused range includes stylized versions the all-new 2014 Corvette Stingray, SS sports sedan and a variety of restyled 2014 Camaros – including the all-new Z/28.
Influenced by West Coast culture, here racing-influenced performance and appearance matter this track-inspired Torch Red Corvette Stingray Z51 Coupe’s design is purposeful and compelling.

The high-performance hue is complemented by a carbon fibre hood and a visible carbon-fibre weave on the removable roof panel, as well as a satin-black front splitter and rocker extensions. The Z51 rear spoiler is painted Carbon Flash Metallic with a Carbon Flash graphics package. The interior features a carbon fibre trim kit, along with the available Competition Sport seats and a flat-bottom steering wheel with a carbon fibre finish.

Because it’s a Corvette Stingray Z51, the LT1 engine features a dry-sump oiling system, the cooling and brake systems are enhanced and the transaxle features an electronic limited-slip differential. Even the gearing in the seven-speed manual transmission is unique.

Like the Atlantic concept, the left-coast Corvette concept wears a number of Chevrolet Accessories, including distinctive satin black aluminum wheels with a red accent stripe (19 x 8.5-inch in front/20 x 10-inch in the rear).

I would too.

Thanks for sharing the pics Steven. The pics and video look AWESOME.

I'm eager to check out the C7, time permitting. At this price point, it has a chance of knocking out a CPO 911 as my next vehicle.

I like the stripes on the Pacific Edition. I'm liking the front splitter, but not the side skirts.

I must be ... The car is such an overstyled, tacky American mess. Reminds me of a Pontiac. So sad too because at one point it looked really promising. These "special" editions are even tackier, if that's possible.

I'm on the same boat. These concepts do remind of the tacky Pontiacs of yore. I hope it's not an indication of any direction the Z06 and ZR1 are going to take...
