dunno, but I'd be hard pressed to believe that it would be as fast/faster than a GT-R.

oh for sure not, but it is quite a good track car.

And if you spent $500 on a 2014 C7 you'd get even more performance.
I like the 4G Supra but it's no where near a C7 in terms of performance.

it's almost identical for 1/4 time and trap, that's what I was talking about. but I know straight line acceleration isn't everything.

Even for a stock C6 there's a big gap in acceleration compare to a 4G Supra Turbo

Cant wait to till the z06/zr1 is in my garage. Cant justify the cost/trade in rape for my modded c6 that is no slower than a base C7. Plus she still turns heads everywhere. The C6 z51/z06/zr1 was/is an amazing car. I can only imagine how great the C7 is going to be....

Lots of videos are now coming out (as of yesterday), now that the C7 Corvette is "on the street" and being put into the hands of different magazines for test drives.
Here is one.....

I definitely agree that it has Viper-like features. Personally, I don't think it looks like "the future" of sports cars. It seems to be stuck in the 2000s or something. I can't quite put my finger on it.

My prediction, This thing (especially a zo6/zr1) is going to wipe the pavement with the NSX.

NSX pot hole proof abilities will put this fiber glass, large side mirror design vette to shame.

So much awesomeness with this car!
It makes the previous gens laughable by comparison.
...and yea, add me to the list of people that think the Vette will mop the floor with the NSX.

Hmm..I don't think the NSX or 911 have much to worry about....they simply just compete in different markets....
Back in 1989, a corvette was around $30k. NSX was twice the price, if not more. That didn't really stop the NSX from being a great car in its era.
To me, Corvette has always been about being one of the best bang-of-the-buck super car. I think the GT-R should be worried since they are closer in terms of price range and the GT-R is also known for its excellent performance to $$ ratio.

Honestly, back in 1989 the Porsche 928 was a more direct competitor to the Vette for obvious reasons. Maybe the absence of * has since changed that to the 911.
....and I doubt Porsche is worried about anything coming from the GM camp. If anything, they're more concerned with BMW or Audi going upmarket sports car (i.e.: R8) or Lamborghini/Ferrari doing something downmarket (the latter being less likely).

To me the Vette falls in between a 911 and a 928, more than a sports car but also not quite a GT either. A friend has owned two 928's, most under appreciated Porsche of all time.
And from I've seen so far, the C7 definitely has Porsche worried. They've stepped up the interior quality significantly, tech features (Al chassis, carbon floorpans, magfluid shocks, Brembo brakes....), improved performance, all for a amazing low price. I'd bet Porsche will buy a couple (one for component teardown reverse engineering, and one running comparison unit) as soon as they are available. C7 has great potential for the middle ground folks who are cross-shopping 911's and Vette's.
The C7 looks like the perfect combination of styling, engineering, supply chain management, and manufacturing.

yeah, the lines are pretty blurred these days - can't really compare to the old days of GM where they were pretty far behind in terms of refinement and general public opinion - GM has stepped up their game big time in the past several years and it's very plausible that someone would be cross-shopping a Vette and a 911 these days. IMO

Compete in different markets?? The Vette is constantly compared to the Porsche in comparisons. As for the NSX, It may not have much to worry about being a car with limited production (but im sure it will for some). But as far as handling and performance numbers they should be worried. What the base vette is putting down for numbers already should scare the others as to what the Z06 and ZR1 will be putting down.
This is not to say every car is a brand snob and ignore the numbers. But when we start talking about expensive cars, the logo in front is quite important IMO.
Make no mistake, I'm sure the likes of Porsche, Audi, Acura, and even Ferrari might take note of the Corvette. Then again, from what I've seen, the Vette usually gets pretty darn good numbers compared to the others starting from the C4.
This is pretty much what I meant.....most people have a brand preference when it comes to super cars.....

Acura takes note of nobody. They don't want to compete.
They have shown to be deaf dumb and blind.
They march to the beat of their own crazy song that's in their head.

Ironic, because the new C7 seats are made by the same company that makes Porsche's seats.

Let's not forget that people will not easily overlook details like raiding the parts bin and using a Saturn steering wheel for the $100k ZR1 things like that matter when a car is mentioned with the likes of Ferrari and Porsche.
It's all semantics... people will argue that the NSX is/isn't an exotic for example. Ultimately when someone pays that much for a car, they want to say they bought a Porsche or a Mercedes and not a Chevy.

In the US, muscle cars were called supercars before the term "muscle car" even existed. Again, all semantics... even members on rennlist and 6SO will give credit when it's due.

And I'm guessing majority of Vette owners say they bought a Vette since it's a household name.
