I think it will look good once we see a real one up close...if you want a fast, handling V-8 coupe for under 40m, I think it it the best looking one...the SS will have the F3 suspension, nice....never had HUD but those that have say it is nice....

Once again Chevy brings the best bang for your buck performance to the table.... except this time it comes with a pretty good interior! 300 horsepower and a 6-speed automatic for $23k (probably more with the 6AT but still)

If only it weren't for the timing of the release (in the midst of an economic downturn and his gas prices) and the media overexposure of the Camaro, I would say its a guaranteed hit. We'll see

Let's see...300hp gas gulping Mustang GT for $30k or 422hp gas gulping Camaro SS for $30k...duh. If you only need/want the 300hp, get the Camaro V6 for $7k less than the Mustang and get better milage to boot! Plus it has IRS, something Ford claimed would add thousands to the price of the Mustang. The Camaro may not be the best looking of the two, but it wins . I am really excited about this year's car show with what GM is putting out for 2009.

yea.. the LS is competitively priced against the Mustang GT and bang for your buck this thing completely demolishes It's american counterparts.. Add the RS package, and this car becomes #1 in its class stateside.

The SS however, then creeps into 30k$ territory (G37 base, Genesis Coupe, 370Z..) I'm very interested in seeing how this car sells.

impressive job on the pricing... I was expecting the base SS to be closer to 35-40k and almost 45k loaded...

Pricing Press Release...

Here's the press release...

Chevrolet today announced pricing for the all-new, 2010 Camaro. It starts at $22,995 MSRP for the V-6-powered LS model, and $30,995 for the V-8-powered Camaro SS (all prices include $750 destination charge). Customer ordering opened on Oct. 13, with production scheduled to start in first quarter of 2009.

“The wait is almost over,” said Ed Peper, GM North America vice president, Chevrolet. “The return of the Camaro gives sports car enthusiasts a reason to rejoice. It’s a 21 st century sports car with a distinctly American legacy.

More than 600,000 enthusiasts have requested information on the Camaro since its production was announced. Chevrolet is reaching out to give them the opportunity to be the first to order one.

The Chevy.com/Camaro Web site carries information regarding early ordering, along with vehicle packaging information, a specification sheet and anticipated frequently asked questions about the ordering process.

Production is scheduled to begin in mid-February at GM’s Oshawa, Ontario production facility, with dealership deliveries shortly thereafter. Complementing the Camaro’s introduction is a range of performance, appearance and convenience accessories – including 21-inch wheels and tires; ground effects and stripe kits; and even a classic-styled Hurst shifter – that customers can order and have installed at their dealership. In some cases, the cost of the accessories and their installation can be rolled into the monthly payments.

“My Own Worst Enemy”

Enthusiasts will see the new Camaro this fall as part of NBC’s new drama, “My Own Worst Enemy.” It stars Christian Slater as a man with two personalities – a suburban dad and covert spy – with the Camaro featured prominently, along with the new Chevy Traverse crossover. The show premiers Oct. 13, the same day ordering opens for the Camaro.

Camaro’s supporting role on “My Own Worst Enemy” follows its big-screen debut as the Autobot named Bumblebee in the blockbuster 2007 movie, “Transformers.”

World-class performance, American heritage

Built on GM’s new, global rear-wheel-drive architecture, the Camaro is offered in V-6-powered LS and LT models, as well as the V-8-powered SS. All models and powertrain combinations are matched with fuel-saving six-speed transmissions. Advanced technologies, including engines with direct injection and Active Fuel Management, enable a satisfying balance of exhilarating performance and good fuel economy.

Camaro product highlights also include:

- Sleek styling with heritage cues and 10 available exterior colors
- Four-wheel independent suspension system, including a 4.5-link rear suspension
- Four-wheel disc brake systems standard on all models, including four-piston Brembo calipers on SS models
- StabiliTrak stability control system and traction control standard on all models
- Family of 18-, 19- and 20-inch wheels
- Six standard air bags, including head curtain side-impact air bags and front seat-mounted thorax side air bags
- RS appearance package available on LT and SS, including HID headlamps with integrated halo rings, spoiler, specific taillamps and 20-inch wheels
- Bluetooth phone connectivity
- USB connectivity
- Remote vehicle starting system
- OnStar
- XM Satellite Radio

Under the hood, Camaro LS and LT use a 3.6L engine with variable valve timing to optimize performance and fuel economy. It is rated at an estimated 300 horsepower (224 kW) and 273 lb.-ft. of torque (370 Nm). A six-speed manual transmission is standard with the 3.6L engine; a Hydra-Matic 6L50 electronically controlled six-speed automatic, with TAPshift control, is available. LS and LT models are estimated at 27 mpg in highway driving, for great fuel economy to complement their fun driving experience.

The high-performance Camaro SS is equipped with a powerful 6.2L V-8, with a choice of a six-speed manual or six-speed automatic transmission. Manual transmission-equipped models receive the LS3 engine, estimated at 422 horsepower (315 kW) and 408 lb.-ft. of torque (553 Nm). It is paired with a TR6060 six-speed transmission.

A new, L99 V-8 engine is used on automatic transmission-equipped SS models. It is based on the LS3, but also includes GM’s fuel-saving Active Fuel Management feature. It is estimated at 400 horsepower (299 kW) and 395 lb.-ft. of torque (535 Nm). It is matched with a Hydra-Matic 6L80 six-speed transmission that helps delivers an estimated 23 mpg on the highway.

Chevrolet is one of America’s best-known and best-selling automotive brands. With the largest dealer network in the United States, Chevy is the leader in full-size trucks and the leader in sales of vehicles priced $35,000 and above. Chevrolet delivers more-than-expected value in every vehicle category, offering cars and trucks priced from $12,120 to $103,300. Chevy delivers expressive design, spirited performance and great value with standard features usually found only on more expensive vehicles. By next March when the car is actually available, the current financial mess will be settled and people will be buying cars. The only problem will be that for the first couple of months people will be paying over MSRP.

GM begins taking orders for Chevrolet Camaro

Oshawa, Ontario - General Motors of Canada has announced that, beginning Thursday, October 16, 2008, dealers across the country will be able to submit customer orders for the new 2010 Camaro Coupe. Pricing will be released within the next few weeks.

“Even before pricing in Canada has been finalized, Camaro enthusiasts are anxious to get their orders on the books,” said Marc Comeau, vice president of sales, service and marketing. “The return of the Camaro and the buzz it has created are great reminders of the passion surrounding this marque, and we’re confident the new, fuel-efficient 2010 Camaro will make enthusiasts out of a whole new generation of drivers as well.”

GM said customers who order a vehicle early will be given priority. Orders can be placed through Chevrolet dealers, who will have information regarding early ordering, vehicle packaging and specifications; this information can also be found online at GM as of October 16.

Production is scheduled to begin in mid-February 2009 in Oshawa, Ontario, with dealership deliveries beginning immediately. The company has also announced a range of accessories, including 21-inch wheels, ground effects, stripe kits and a Hurst shifter that can be ordered and installed at the dealership.

There will also be a “Numbers-Matching” merchandising package available through Choko Motorsports, which will feature several unique Camaro items; details can be found at Camaro Boutique.
Crazy. Canadian pricing will likely start at 30 for the V6 and go up to 45 for the 2SS. Which means 50K out the door.

That Canadian pricing is downright silly. As for US pricing, that base price is the steal of the friggin century.

If Chevy plans to sell this thing in the volumes of the Mustang, those mark ups won't last - especially on the high volume V6 models.

Same thing happend when the retro Mustang came out a few years ago. Within six months, they were giving them away as they always had. Same thing will happen here. The first few people get jacked, and the rest get a great deal. You want to be the first on the block with the latest "it" car, you gotta pay to play.

Post Black Teased Ahead of SEMA 2008

Looks good...

From WCF...

Although no information has been released yet, we can see in these sketches of the Camaro “Black”, some distinguishing body modifications such as front bumper lower splitter, glowing red angel eye headlamps, side skirts, monolithic 5-spoke rims and rear bumper fascia with diffuser and rectangular exhaust tips.

Other mechanical and body bits being upgrade, as seen in the videos include exhaust headers, Hurst shifter, big brake upgrade, suspension, fuel injectors, full paint job with custom vinyl graphics and something with the interior. Stay tuned.

I'm leaving soon to work the SEMA show in Las Vegas for GM. We are gonna have 8 Camaro's there, a bunch of G8's and a couple of H2's. I'm trying to get specific information on the Camaro's but it is like pulling teeth. I'm gonna have to do my own crawl around when I get there to see what they did to them. Should be pretty cool
